Katerina’s Complete Eyeshadow Bible Pt 5

And
Benefit’s Smokin’ Eye Kit (listed below)
Katerina’s choice for all eye colours:
Benefit Big Beautiful Eyes Kit ($59) Why? The perfect staple eye shadow colors for any girl’s makeup bag. The dark brown in matte so you can use it as a brow powder/liner and the lightest colour can be used as a shimmer on cheekbones. Complete with a Boi-ing concealer (a godsend) and honestly, the brushes included are terrific, especially the shadow blender.
Benefit Smokin’ Eyes Palette $68 Why? It literally contains everything you could possible need for a smoky eye look. Great colours, great quality in a cute little compact.
NOTE: Please don’t let this list restrict you from colours you want to try! Eye shadow is fun and I suggest you have a play around with a few different colours and looks…!

Well, the time has come. I need to embark on the dreaded Project 10 Pan! I guess I shouldn’t look at it as the “dreaded” project because I’ll probably never accomplish it if I think like that… Basically I have a cupboard overflowing with products that I don’t feel like I’m getting enough use out of. I keep buying new things and not making the most of the things I already have. So I’ve decided to do a project 10 pan for haircare, skincare and a project 5 pan for makeup. I don’t really have THAT many body products to justify a project 10 or 5 pan, so I’m leaving that one out for now. If you haven’t heard of Project 10 Pan before, it’s basically where people who have too many products attempt to use up 10 things before purchasing anything new. My one exception for this rule will be if it’s something that I feel that I
have to replace. Foundation (of which I only have 1), mascara, moisturiser and facial cleanser will need to be replaced if I run out of those before the 10 pan finishes. I’m pretty sure that with everything else I have a few back up products to use so I should be okay.
I will be keeping a tally in the sidebar for products I use up as I go. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join me on this… If you feel like you’re spending too much on skincare, makeup and haircare and want to use up a few things in your cupboard – feel free to jump on board!

You may or may not recall a
recent product review I did for haircare brand Evo. I boldly claimed that they were one of my new favourite hair care brands. After testing out a second product from their range, the
‘Mister Fantastic Texture Spray’ I am well and truly hooked on Evo.
What is great about this product…
Once again the cheeky little spiel on the front of the bottle had me giggling. Any product that can reference Columbo on their packaging is okay by me. The smell of the spray is fruit and sweet, and quite similar to that of the
End Doctor. It’s easy to use: you can either apply to damp hair for wet curl sets, waving and blow drying or to dry hair for hot tool styling and adding texture. Here is the best thing about this product: It works. I have very fine, straight hair (with a very slight wave if the weather is humid) and when I let it dry naturally it just sort of… hangs. Today I let my hair dry naturally, added some of the mister fantastic to the bottom half of my hair, scrunched it with my hands and voila! Instant texture.
It may not be a dramatic difference, but I think there is a definite difference in the body and texture of my hair. This would be a perfect tool for creating good bed hair, or beachy waves. I love it. (ha, hello flyaways in the first picture! eek!)
What is not so great about this product…
My only issue with the Mister Fantastic spray is that if you apply too much it can leave a
slight hint of crispiness to your hair. BUT once I ran my wide-tooth comb through my hair a couple of times all crispiness was gone, and my hair continued to retain the texture and body.
Evo products are available for purchase in Australia, New Zealand and Canada. Check out thier store locator to find a stockist near you.

This is just a little update to let you know some exciting things going on with
Jurlique at the moment. The first is the release of their new Jasmine Hand Cream – which will be available for purchase on the 29th of March 2010. Jasmine is one of my all time favourite scents, and you know that Jurlique is one of my favourite skincare brands so when I heard about this I quickly added it to my shopping wish list!

Jurlique is delighted to introduce a new scent to complement the much-loved Rose, Lavender and Citrus hand creams. NEW Jasmine Hand Cream is a rich, protective hand cream, infused with the living energy of Jurlique’s plants & flowers, to deeply moisture and restore smoothness to hands while imparting the beautiful aroma of Australian Jasmine.
Jasmine Hand Cream provides long-lasting moisturisation and hydration with a special blend of natural ingredients including Safflower & Macadamia Oils, Honey, Glycerin & Aloe Vera. Calendula, Viola and Chamomile Extracts help to soothe and comfort skin whilst Carrot Root Extract and Marshmallow help to hydrate and soften skin, leaving skin feeling silky and supple.
The delicate star shaped jasmine, long the subject of rituals in ancient cultures, is renowned for its nightly blooming ritual and distinctive scent. In traditional aromatherapy Jasmine is known to have therapeutic properties and its calming and soothing effects make it an ideal aroma for body and bath products. One litre of “Jasmine absolute” is made from approximately eight million tiny white flowers, equating to one ton of Jasmine flowers to produce one litre of this precious essential oil. The Jasmine plant flowers all day but the intensity of the odour is most pronounced in the very late night / early morning hours, when the pollinators are out harvesting their nectar, which is why the flowers are best hand-picked at dawn.
The formulation contains no Parabens, PEGs, artificial colors, artificial fragrances or Sodium Lauryl Sulfate.
Sound good, right? The Jurlique Jasmine Hand Cream will retail for $27 AUD for 40ml and $55 AUD for 125ml. It will be available for Australian purchase from Jurlique stores, leading department stores, selected pharmacies and for International purchase via the Jurlique website.
Another bit of Jurlique news is regarding the initiative that they’re starting on the 22nd of March 2010 in Jurlique stores throughout Australia. It’s called “Give & Gift” and is in celebration of Earth Month in April this year. Customers are invited to return Jurlique packaging such as bottles or tubes in exchange for a 10% discount off replacement purchases. Give & Gift will be a permanent addition to the service in every Jurlique store and aims to raise awareness for responsible recycling. Very exciting!

It’s time for Part 4 of our amazing guest post from Katerina Psathas (from
Adore Beauty). This post is dedicated to the green eyed ladies out there, and is especially helpful for me as I have green eyes myself. Be sure to check out the previous posts from Katerina regarding
eyeshadow basics,
blue eyes and
brown eyes!
Katerina’s Complete Eyeshadow Bible Pt 4

Green Eyes: If you have blessed with gorgeous green eyes, make everyone else even more jealous by using the following colours, to make sure they don’t go unnoticed…
- Deep Purple
- Violet
- Burgundy
- Plum
- Brown
- Copper
- Pretty much anything with a mauve/plum undertone
Katerina’s choice for Green Eyes:
I really can’t get enough of these Duwop palettes! Duwop Eye Palette – Violet Eyes ($49)
Napoleon Perdis Ultra Pearl Shadow in Wine $25 (one of my ALL time favourite colours)
Why? I bought this eye shadow over 3 years ago and I still use to this day. It never fails to get me a bucket load of compliments, and really helps to make my brown eyes stand out. During the day I wear it with a champagne base, and at night I use it as a base and smoke it up with black. Hot.
(Excuse the poor swatch, it’s a beautiful pearl finish deep burgundy)
Bloom Eye shadow in Sunset and Bone, $25 Why? Bloom has some of the easiest to apply eye shadows I have come across. They are good value for money, the colour range is extensive and the pigment quality is brilliant.
- Katerina
I hope this was helpful to some of the green eyed ladies out there. Personally, I am considering the DuWop palette in Violet Eyes… Stay tuned for Part 5 and the final guest blog from Katerina & her Eyeshadow Bible – Grey Eyes.

Sooooo I placed a little impulse MAC order this evening. As I mentioned in a couple of previous posts I am on holiday from work this week, and joy of joys – I have come down with a bug. Of course I am feeling sorry for myself, and of course I decided to cheer myself up by spending some money on products I probably don’t need but definitely want. I had about 10 products in my shopping cart before settling on…
MAC Blushcreme in Posey

MAC Eyeshadow in Gleam

MAC Tinted Lip Conditioner in Petting Pink

They are all things that I think will fit in really well with my makeup collection so far. I didn’t really need another cream blush, or yet another gold(ish) eyeshadow but there you go. Oh, I also tried to do a makeup video this week but for some reason my webcam photobooth is stuck on a weird distortion where I look like an alien. Which was funny at first but now it’s just annoying because I can’t figure out how to change it back. I’ll fiddle around with it tomorrow and see if I can fix it!
