Product Review: Moroccanoil

I had been dying to try out Moroccanoil ever since reading that Jessie Baylin (she of impeccable hair) swore by it. I had made some half-assed attempts at finding an online retailer, but had forgotten about it until Adore Beauty made the exciting announcement that they were going to stock the brand! I made an order as soon as the stock hit the shelves (perfect timing too, as it sold out soon after) and eagerly anticipated it’s arrival on my doorstep. I have been using it nearly every day since.

What is great about this product…

I’ll start with the smell because this seems to divide people a bit. I like the smell, but I know of a few people who aren’t that keen on it. It’s hard to describe but I would say it’s sweet with a very subtle hint of spice. The scent does tend to linger in your hair, so if you don’t like it – be wary that it will hang around for a little while. The product itself is great and keeps my hair soft and silky and keeps the flyaways and frizziness at bay. I have fine hair (but quite a bit of it) so I was concerned that a hair oil might be a bit too heavy for me. The oil somehow manages to sink into my hair, and after blowdrying there is no residue whatsoever, and my hair is light and soft and not weighed down at all. When I first received the bottle I honestly thought it was a little small for the price, but after using it for months it is still around 90% full so I would honestly have to say it’s worth the price tag.

What is not so great about this product…

The packaging can be a little tricky. It is a pour bottle, which can be kind of messy and slippery because you’re dealing with a thick oil. I think a pump bottle of some kind would probably be a better set up for this product.

Moroccanoil retails for $49.50 AUD for 100ml. International readers can search for a stockist at the Moroccanoil website, and Australian readers can purchase Moroccanoil exclusively from Adore Beauty.

Saturday Survey – May 1

01 Mood: Rushed. Where has the weekend gone??

02 Best thing about this weekend: Sitting around last night over dinner, talking and laughing with some girlfriends. I am constantly reminded of how lucky I am when I’m around them – they are all so amazing and unique. (and never fail to make me laugh til I cry)

03 Current Workout: I have been fitting in 30 minute workouts (on top of my regular incidental exercise) 5 days a week, and this includes 50/50 power walking and running. My stamina and cardio is definitely improving, which is a positive sign!

04 What I’m watching: Band of Brothers. At least I will be when I get a chance to watch the DVD…

05 Skincare lust: I am eager to try out the sample pack of Lapureté products that arrived for me this week. A natural alternative to botox? Sounds good to me!

06 Listening to: Laura Marling – Night Terror. I could not possibly love this song any more than I do. Love.

07 Favourite recent purchase: I haven’t really been buying much for myself lately… But I am wearing the hell out of my cashmere scarves, so that is good! I love getting value for my money…

08 What I’m reading: Still plugging away with Atonement by Ian McEwan. Nearly finished though, and I am trying to decide what to read next…

09 I want: To go on an all expenses paid trip to New York. I miss that place.

10 Aim for this week: Catch up with my family visiting from O/S – and show my Auntie all of the best places to shop here in my town!
