Product Review: Clarins Silky Smooth Body Cream

What is great about this product…

I really love the texture of this body lotion, it feels thick but when applying it to my skin it felt really smooth and silky. (as the product name suggests) After applying my skin felt very soft and the softness and hydration seemed to last throughout the day. The smell of the Clarins Eau Tranquility Silky-Smooth Body Cream is really quite strong, but I found it surprisingly pleasant. I don’t think I would wear this during the daytime on a regular basis, because I found that the smell lingered all day, and sort of clashed with my perfume. I do like that the smell lingers for such a long time because that is not always the case with scented body lotions. It was a real treat to apply at night, especially when I used it prior to my meditation sessions. The Clarins Eau Tranquility Body Cream uses a combination of essential oils and plant extracts to provide the dual benefits of aromatherapy and phytotherapy*. (*the use of plants or plant extracts for medicinal purposes) The benefits of aromatherapy definitely came through, as when I used this product at night (and before meditating) I felt quite calm and relaxed.

What is not so great about this product…

I don’t really like the packaging of this product, and I’m not sure if it’s because I received a sample tube or what, but it just didn’t look that appealing to me. I much prefer the tub version, as pictured in this post.

My Rating: 7/10

The Clarins Eau Tranquility Silky-Smooth Body Cream retails for $62.00 AUD and is available for purchase online from Australian online beauty store Active Skin.

Newsflash: Nivea Sun Ultra Beach Protect

For my fellow Australians, it’s nearly that time of year where we need to start thinking seriously about sun care. Now, I won’t go off on a tangent on how important it is to wear sunscreen EVERY SINGLE DAY because I’m sure you’ve heard it all a million times. If not, feel free to email me and I will give you the rundown. Nivea are set to release “Ultra Beach Protect SPF30+” in October 2010. Did you know your exposure the sun’s UV rays can be up to 25% stronger on the beach due to sand and water reflection? With that in mind, Nivea Sun, worldwide number one in sun care introduces Nivea Sun Ultra Beach Protect SPF30+, for ultra tough protection. The Ultra Beach Protect contains specially formulated UV filters that help improve your skin’s natural defence against the nasty rays that you are subjected to every day. There is 4 hours water resistancy, which is handy for those like me who are in and out of the water constantly when at the beach! The product also contains rich moisturisers to help alleviate skin from the “dry and tight feeling caused by heat and water”. The Nivea Sun Ultra Beach Protect retails for $13.95 AUD and will be available in October from leading pharmacies.

Newsflash: New Burt’s Bees

This September Burt’s Bees are set to release two delicious new flavours of their beeswax lip balms. Burt’s Bees Rejuvenating Lip Balm in Acai Berry (pictured) and Mango Butter. The lips balms are 100% natural, and claim to leave your lips feeling renewed, hydrated and healthy. I’ve not used the Burt’s Bees lipbalms before, but my mum is absolutely obsessed with them, after having first discovered them on a trip to the USA about 5 years ago. She was more than excited when she realised that they are stocked in Australia too! The Rejuvenating Lip Balms retail for $6.95 AUD (new flavours to be released in September) and you can shop the range of Burt’s Bees products at David Jones, Myer, selected pharmacies and health food stores, or online at Adore Beauty.

Mood Inspiration

I am taking some time “offline” this weekend to try and rejuvenate myself a little bit. I’ve had a very rushed past couple of weeks and I feel like my brain just needs to switch off and relax for a while. So I’m turning the computer off, hiding my iphone from myself and making an effort to stop and breathe for a couple of days. I have scheduled a couple of blog posts for The Belle Lumiere, so things won’t be silent around here for too long. (I love the schedule posts feature, it’s so handy for times like this!) Anyway, enjoy your weekend!

Product Review: Nivea Rich Nourishing Body Moisturiser

What is great about this product…

This moisturiser has been an absolute god send to my rather neglected body as of late. As winter comes to an end I’m finding that I am on the hunt for super rich and nourishing body moisturisers, and so far this one takes the cake. It is one of the richest body moisturisers that I have stumbled across that doesn’t label itself as a body butter. “Ingredients naturally found in the skin are harnessed and then combined with an intensely rich and creamy Vitamin E and Almond Oil formulation.” I can really notice (and quite enjoy) the almond oil factor in the lotion. It has that added richness and depth that I usually accustom to a body oil. It is very thick and very creamy, but sinks into skin almost instantly. I love the way my skin looks and feels after using this product, it has a very healthy glow about it and feels very hydrated and moisturised. The price point is very reasonable, with the Nivea Rich Nourishing Body Moisturiser retailing for $5.40 AUD for 250ml $7.99 AUD for 400ml. After a week of using this product at night before bed, my skin has lost it’s winter dryness and looks prepped and ready for spring/summer!

What is not so great about this product…

I can’t quite describe the smell (I’m sure you know by now how bad I am at scent descriptions) but whatever it is, I’m not sure I like it. It is quite overwhelming, and the fragrance seems to linger for quite a while after application. Which normally would be a good thing, if I liked the smell! That is the only downside to the moisturiser that I could find, and smell is always a personal preference, so I will still rate the product rather high.

My Rating: 7.5/10

The Nivea Rich Nourishing Body Moisturiser is available for purchase nationally in supermarkets, selected pharmacies and major retail outlets.
