Etsy Haul – Flourish Bath Body

I really love the idea of supporting small business, and Etsy is a really great way to do this. Whether you want to support local talent, or even just small business around the world, shopping from the hand made sellers on Etsy is a good start. For some reason lately I’ve been really curious to check out some of the beauty products that are available at Etsy. I was browsing through a few different stores tonight, and after reading Dee‘s review of FlourishBathBody’s Almond Milk Perfume Oil I decided to purchase a few things for myself.

I tried to opt for more “summery” scents, but couldn’t resist the addition of the Almond Milk Body Lotion as well as the fragrance. Do you buy beauty products from Etsy? If so, please share your favourite stores!

Product Review: Clarins Daily Energizer Cream-Gel

What is great about this product…

The Daily Energizer range is Clarins’ first range for young skin. Now, I’m probably not in the “young” category anymore, (When does that cut off by the way? I’m nearly 26… egad.) but I do have sensitive skin that is prone to breaking out, so this range seems like something that my skin would react well to. The daily energizer cream claims to “help reduce imperfections and boost radiance”, and I do I really like the “glow” that this cream gives to my skin after application. The product itself is thick and seems to be quite a rich sort of cream, but it applies like a gel. It is lightweight but feels very moisturising. I like the fact that a little of the product goes a long way, and for $38 AUD, I can see the jar lasting quite a long time.

What is not so great about this product…

I don’t like the smell. And I know you hear this a lot from me so you probably don’t even pay any mind to it anymore. I am notoriously fussy when it comes to product fragrance. The Daily Energizer range claims to have “refreshing fruit scented formulas” but the smell of this cream is definitely botanical. At least to my nose. And the scent does linger for most of the morning, or at least until I apply my makeup over the top. I do enjoy using the Clarins Daily Energizer Cream-Gel, but to be honest I don’t think I would repurchase in the future.

My Rating: 4/10

The Clarins Daily Energizer Cream-Gel retails for $38 AUD for 30ml and is available for purchase online via Australian online beauty site Adore Beauty.

Style Inspiration

Pantene stylist Sam McKnight did the styling for the Twenty8Twelve runway show in London and I am dying with lust over the look pictured above. If only my hair would grow a little faster! Hopefully by next winter it will be long enough that I can style it like this (and with that hot red lipstick too).

Free People Haul

The lovely Sarah from ‘Dempeaux‘ retweeted a code on Twitter this morning for free shipping (including international shipping fees) at the Free People website. So I thought it might be a good idea to head over and see if there was anything I wanted to buy for myself. (because free shipping is found money you know!) And of course, there was.

I have been looking for a bag like the one above for such a long time, I was so excited when I saw it on the site. It’s not real leather, which is kind of a downer, but it still looks lovely and hopefully if I take proper care of it, it’ll last me a while.

Get The Look: MAC @ Rodarte SS11

Yet another 70′s inspired makeup look – this time at Rodarte SS 2011 show at New York Fashion Week. The head makeup artist was MAC’s own James Kaliardos. “It’s “gold rush,” “healthy, sunlit skin,” and “very Northern California,” said James Kaliardos. If you’re brave enough to rock this gilded look, you can achieve it using the following products: Quarry eye shadow (used as contour) on cheeks and temples, Golden Lemon pigment on the inner and outer corners of the eye, Lip Erase in Dim (to tone down their natural color) & Rose Gold pigment over top.

Books!

My book purchases for this month. I’m really excited to read C, I know you shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover, but I find the cover art so intriguing on that particular copy. I am also secretly pleased that it was only available in hardback…

Get The Look: NARS @ Marc Jacobs SS11

NARS has been a very busy brand this NY Fashion Week! They popped up once again, this time creating 70′s inspired dramatic looks at Marc Jacobs. The lead artist was NARS’ own founder and creative director François Nars. “The look is very reminiscent of Angelica Houston in the 70s-the bleached brows and the deep eyes,” said François Nars. “I wanted them to look like iconic models from the 70s with a modern approach. Marc had images of what he wanted the makeup to look like – mimicking the colors of the clothing but not matching exactly.” You can recreate the look yourself using the following key products: Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer (This is new for 2011 – ie: not available to us plebs just yet, though I feel like I need it now(!) – in the meantime try a light application of Nars Sheer Glow Foundation), Orgasm Blush, Night Porter Eyeshadow, Nouveau Monde Duo Eyeshadow, Celebrate Soft Touch Shadow Pencil, Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara, Volga Pure Matte Lipstick, African Queen Lip Liner Pencil, & the Mambo Eyeliner Pencil. NARS is exclusive to Mecca Cosmetica in Australia.
