Product Review: NARS Penny Lane Cream Blush

I was recently on the hunt for a good peach toned cream blush that would work well on my fair skin. I am already an avid fan of the Stila convertible colour in the shade Gerbera, but I wanted another product to try out because I was getting a little bit tired of using the same peach blush every single day. (and I am loving peach cheeks for Spring/Summer) After extensive googling, and at the suggestion of a couple of readers I decided to purchase NARS Cream Blush in the shade Penny Lane. Unfortunately, I am not really liking it at all. (Note: It was difficult for me to get a proper swatch happening, the product was applying in a very patchy sort of way that didn’t look good at all. In the end I had to apply it with my beauty blender.)

I don’t like the colour on my skin. Instead of being a nice light peachy pink as I’d hoped, it’s a sort of muddy brown-pink that isn’t very nice at all. This would probably look good on someone with a darker skintone than me, and would possibly make for a nice neutral pink blush for some. On me it just looks kind of… blah. As I am not one of those people who will tan during summer and then be able to try this product out to see if it has a different effect, I may just have to hand this one over to my sister or sister in law who were both genetically blessed with perfect olive skin. NARS Cream Blush retails for $60 AUD and can be purchased exclusively in Australia at Mecca Cosmetica.

7 Thoughts on “Product Review: NARS Penny Lane Cream Blush

  1. I’m sorry to hear you didn’t like it. I actually think it looks very pretty.

It’s funny I always wanted to be much paler because I think makeup shows up nicer and would dread getting tanned in summer!

  2. I can’t get into NARS blushes at all – there’s just too much pigmentation in them and I look like a circus clown. I like a VERY light touch when it comes to blush.

  3. Oh no, I think Penny Lane is so pretty. It is a nude pink so it may not be for everybody, but it shouldn’t be muddy! And I find that the texture is lovely and smooth, much nicer than Stila CCs actually. I think you got a dud, unfortunately… if you bought it from Mecca you can return it : ) xx

  4. I’ve been wanting to try this for ages. It’s such a shame you didn’t like it, it looks like such a pretty, flattering colour. Maybe you could try mixing it with another colour? I recently bought Bloom’s Sheer Colour Cream in Coy which I’m really loving. BTW, I just started following your lovely blog. There’s so many amazing things to read 🙂

Shame you didn’t like it! It’s my HG neutral blush. Dior ProCheeks in Hip Peach is a very peach, nicely textured blush, much more peach than Penny Lane.
