Top 10 Favourite Movies

In Stef’s latest ‘Tidbit Tuesday‘, blog post she put the question out to readers – what are your top 5 favourite movies? As I could not cut off my list at 5, I decided to make this post my top 10 favourite movies of all time. Without further ado and in no particular order, here they are:

01: The Blues Brothers – definitely one of my long standing favourite films. I love Jake & Elwood Blues, and Dan Ackroyd’s dancing in every single musical scene throughout the film never fails to make me laugh. So many quoteable lines too. 02: The Dreamers – If you don’t already love Eva Green, you will after watching this film. It’s beautiful, and the imagery is still fresh for me even after years of re-watching.

03: Atonement – Watching this film will result in a full scale crush on James McAvoy, be warned. This is one of the rare circumstances (at least for me personally) where the film supersedes the book. 04: Ferris Bueller’s Day Off – I doubt I have to explain why this movie is so amazing. If you’ve not seen it, you’ve obviously not lived through the 80’s.

05: Constantine – I’m not really sure why I like this movie so much, but it’s one of the few I can re-watch a countless number of times without getting sick of it. Tilda Swinton as Gabriel is simply genius. 06: Romeo & Juliet – When this film first came out, I went and saw it at the cinema around 4 times. I became obsessed with it, and the story of Romeo & Juliet. It also sparked my unhealthy teenage obsession with Leonardo DiCaprio, but we won’t go into that now…

07: Alien Vs Predator – Guilty pleasure film, don’t ask. 08: Star Wars Trilogy – I call this a trilogy because the recent films 1-3 are dead to me. Nothing beats the original. I still have memories of being a child and doing everything I could to stay away to watch the entire films when they were shown on TV, but I remember always falling asleep when Luke gets attacked by the Sand People. Gosh I’m cool.

09: Indiana Jones Trilogy – If I have to explain to you why Indiana Jones is amazing, well then we can’t be friends I’m sorry. The original trilogy is still my favourite, but the 4th film wasn’t too bad. Shia LaBouf’s smart mouth usually makes a film pretty bearable for me. 10: The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy – Now my inner geek is really showing. I love these films, and can still get a lot of enjoyment out of them after countless re-screenings. You know you’ve matured when you no longer find Orlando Bloom as Legolas attractive, but think Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn is the cat’s pyjamas.

So now I pose the question to you – what are your top 5 or 10 favourite movies of all time?

Product Review: KORA Balancing Rose Mist

When Miranda Kerr first released her skincare range KORA, I was somewhat cynical. I’m not sure why that is (possibly something to do with me being annoyed with how she was always harping on about how perfect her life is), but I’ve seen her in a whole new light over the past couple of months. I honestly believe that she lives as organically as she possibly can, and if the Balancing Rose Mist is anything to judge it on the KORA skincare range is absolutely beautiful. The mist is a lot lighter than any I’ve used before, and the scent is incredible. I find that spritzing the rose mist over my skin definitely calms it down and reduces redness, and I’ve found it very refreshing to use as a little pick me up during the summer. The packaging is really beautiful, and I wish I could buy my regular Dermalogica holy-grail items in similar packaging! The white and blue look so amazing together. (Dermalogica, are you reading this? No? Oh well.) I’m not sure if I will repurchase this again, purely for the price point. I will however, be trying out the Energising Citrus Mist in the near future. (after P10P of course!) The KORA Balancing Rose Mist retails for $39.95 AUD and is available for purchase online from the KORA website, or from David Jones stores throughout Australia.

Product Review: Bath & Body Works Fresh Market Apple Hand Soap

I am kind of obsessed with the Bath & Body Works Anti-Bacterial Gentle Foaming Hand Soaps. I know that seems like a strange thing to be obsessed over, but there you have it. I ordered 4 different soaps (one for each season) and the soap I’ve been using through summer is the “Fresh Market Apple” scent. The fragrance description is pretty accurate, it is a very fresh smelling soap with a strong smell of apples that comes through. The soap contains a blend of “moisturizing honey, coconut milk and olive fruit extracts to help nourish and soften skin” and despite being a foaming product, it does leave my hands feeling quite soft and moisturised. The Bath & Body Works hand soaps are pretty good value for money, if you don’t mind the fact that you have to use a parcel forwarding service to get them to Australia. The ‘Fresh Market Apple’ Anti-Bacterial Gentle Foaming Hand Soap retails for $5 US (you can currently get 4 for $15) and can be purchased online from the Bath & Body Works website.

Autumn/Winter Wardrobe

The time has come the walrus said to start thinking about my Autumn/Winter wardrobe for the year. Winter is my favourite season, so despite the fact that the temperature is still in the high 30’s, I am already eagerly trawling the internet for beautiful cold-weather pieces. I’ve not been feeling well for the past couple of days so I decided to treat myself and take advantage of the ASOS free shipping and 15% discount code that is available at the moment (VIPSS11 for those playing at home). I ended up with these two pieces for my Autumn/Winter wardrobe this year:

I’m making a conscious effort to pick pieces in shapes and colours that I know I’ll get a lot of wear out of this year. Truth be told I really did not need another scarf this season, and as snobby as it sounds I tend to opt for cashmere scarves most of the time (this one is acrylic) but I couldn’t resist the beautiful forest green colour. After browsing ASOS for a while and settling for those two pieces I did my monthly Etsy search for the term “peacock” to see what gems I could find. I ended up buying this bangle as soon as the page opened. It’ll probably end up being hideously tacky but who cares, it’s a peacock.
