Make A Difference March

Some of the events that have taken place across the globe lately have affected me personally on a few different levels, as I am sure they have affected many of you reading this right now. After seeing so much destruction and heartache time and time again I can’t help but ask myself – what should I be learning from all of this? One thing I know I have learned is that I want to help. I want to contribute in some way to my own local community and the worldwide community as a whole. It is so easy to feel helpless and to let the scale of the help that seems to be needed everywhere overcome our capacity to see what we can actually do to make a difference. So I’m going to start small. And I’m going to ask for your help. As beauty bloggers and readers of beauty blogs, most of us spend a lot of our hard earned money on things we want but don’t necessarily need. I thought it might be a nice idea to dedicate the month of March to taking that money and using it to help those less fortunate than ourselves.

So what can we do to make a difference? This month I want us to try and raise enough money to give at least one underprivileged Australian school child the opportunity to eat breakfast for the year, in the ArdochBreakfast Club‘ programme. This will cost $200. I hope to raise $200 by the end of March, but if we can’t reach that total I pledge to cover whatever is required to get us to the $200 mark. Alternatively, if we raise over $200 I will donate whatever is needed to get us to the next total (eg: $400, $600 etc). Please head over to the fundraising page to donate whatever you feel that you can. Also, if you wish to continue the “Make A Difference March” theme and start a fundraiser on your blog, please let me know so I can link it in this post.

  1. I’ve decided that I’m going to try and buy a fence panel for the Save the Bilby Fund. The panel goes towards replacing older panel’s in the Bilby enclosure fences to keep out predators and so forth. Saving our native fauna is something I believe quite strongly in so, even though I’ve no money due ot begin a student, I’m going to try and buy one panel per quarter for the Fund. For years I’ve bought the chocolate bilby’s at easter, the money of which goes towards the Fund, so now it’s time to step it up a little.

  2. Hi Jessica, This is a really nice idea. I’m giving 5 euro to charity for each of my day zero goals so just donated to this in lieu of the next goal I cross off the list. I’ll link to your page when I blog about it 🙂

  3. This is a great post. I think a lot of people feel helpless, like you said you do. Your right that every little bit helps. If everyone gave a little bit of money or time to help out charity or those less fortunate that would make a huge difference.
