Product Review: NP Set Calming Pre-Foundation Primer

I have always been on the fence about face primers, and I’ve never been shy of saying so. I am about to eat my words though because I can honestly say that the NP Set Calming Pre-Foundation Primer is now a holy grail product for me. There, I said it. I am now officially converted to the world of face priming. I was sold on this primer after the very first use. I suffer from quite a bit of redness in the face, and the green tint to this primer really helps to cover that up and settle my skin down.

The product comes out of the tube quite thick but sheers out and sinks into the skin really quickly, with no green residue left over (in the swatch above I have blended some of the primer into the skin above the green blob). It feels very calming on my skin, and the aloe extract, cucumber extract and hint of peppermint in the primer leave my face feeling tingly and fresh. I’ve come to notice that the primer also contains a very small amount of shimmer that helps make my skin look radiant, all the while helping to tame the oil slick that my forehead likes to become at around 2pm each day. I also love the fact that this primer does not break me out at all. And I’ve been using it every day for a few weeks now. Brilliant. The NP Set Calming Pre-Foundation Primer retails for $33 AUD and will be available for purchase as of October 10 2011 from David Jones, Target stores and pharmacies nationally. (note: I was sent this product for consideration for review)

  1. That looks great! I think the green tint would help my skin too

  2. This looks amazing! Freaked out at the green but am intrigued by it. Have quite a bit of redness so this sounds like a winner. Will be trying this out in October, thanks for the review xx

  3. I’m still waiting for this to come out so I can try it!

  4. Thank you for this. Picked it up last night and it is working brilliantly today!

  5. I know this is over a year old but I just picked some of this up today and your’s is really the only review of it I can find. I’m a little uneasy about how tiny the bottle is and how high the price is but I tested it a Target and it really seemed to help my redness and make my skin feel soft and smooth so I went for it. Anyway, my question is, about how many uses would you say you got out of the little tube? Also, have you since found anything better? Thanks!

    • Hi Allie, I still haven’t found anything better than this for taming redness as a primer but I would only ever use a very small amount on my face due to howmuch shimmer there is in the product! The tube lasted me close to a year I believe. 🙂
