50 Book Challenge Update

I am once again attempting to read 50 books during the year, and I think I’m off to a pretty decent start (though Good Reads is insisting that I’m 2 books behind). So far this year I’ve managed to read 7 books in their entirety. And they are –

What would I recommend out of this selection? Definitely A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini, The Beach by Alex Garland & I Am The Messenger by Markus Zusak. What have you read (and loved) so far this year?

6 Thoughts on “50 Book Challenge Update

  1. I absolutely loved No Country For Old Men – I’ve read it several times. I know you loved The Road, so I think you’d like this one.

Hated A Clockwork Orange (and the movie), haven’t read any of the others.

  2. I read the Messenger a few years ago and absoolutely loved it. It’s such a unique, well crafted story. I wish Zusak would write more.

  3. The one and only book I have read was ‘Living Oprah’…. It was an easy read and the author raised some interesting points. Did I love it? No. Was it a good escape/time out? Yes.

  4. Doing well! I only challenged myself to read 30 this year and am up to 8 so not sure if I should up it to 50 or if that would jinx my reading, lol. I adored The Kite Runner so am wanting to read A Thousand Splendid Suns. Now that I’ve got my Kindle I am loving reading a lot more- much easier to sneak a few sessions in during the day;P Need to read that Zusak too, love his style.

    • A Thousand Splendid Suns was just as beautiful as the Kite Runner, you’ll love it. You’ll also love I Am The Messenger – I loved it even more because it was set in Australia 🙂
