August Empties

Fekkai Apple Cider Clearing Rinse – I really loved this product. I tend to use a clarifying shampoo once a week or so if I feel like my hair is being weighed down by too much product. This worked wonderfully to help remove build up but it was killer to use in Winter, as you have to rinse your hair with cold water to properly remove the product. Brr. I will definitely repurchase this.

Haus of Gloi Vice Pumpkin Butter – Ugh, I wanted so badly to like the smell of this but it was just so overwhelming that I actually grew to loathe it. If you’re a fan of heady chocolate/hazelnut scents this could be for you.

Haus of Gloi Ghost Puffs Pumpkin Butter – If want to smell like caramel buttered popcorn buy this immediately. If they’re sold out just check back from time to time to see if the stock has been refilled. I have a full sized back up of this lotion in my cupboard and I can’t wait to drag it out again next Winter.

LUSH Catastrophe Cosmetic Masque – I remember now why I’m not a huge fan of the LUSH fresh face masques, and it’s basically because they tend to go off before I have a chance to use them up. Other than that I enjoyed using this masque, though I did have a couple of breakouts pop up after using it which was a bit strange.

Pantene 3 Minute Miracle – I’ve mentioned a few times how much I love these little 3 minute hair treatments. They work wonderfully for me and I always have a few on hand in my beauty cupboard.

Mirenesse Secret Weapon Mascara in Black Lace – I can’t quite remember where this mascara came from, but I have the feeling it was a gift with purchase from Adore Beauty. I didn’t think very highly of this mascara, it has a very wet consistency and transferred to my upper lids every time I used it. I haven’t finished up the entire tube but I’ve had it kicking around for at least a year now so it’s time for it to go.

Skindanavia No More Shine Makeup Finish – I use this every morning to help set and freshen up my makeup look. I didn’t use it a couple of times and felt like my skin looked like that of a dusty corpse. I have another bottle ready to go in my cupboard and I can see myself continuing to purchase this until I find a decent and more affordable substitute.

Kosmea Certified Organic Rose Hip Oil – My holy grail skin serum. I love this stuff, as I’m sure I’ve mentioned about a million times on this blog already. I don’t have a back up in my cupboard at the moment but I’ll definitely be repurchasing this again when I’m in the neighborhood of a Kosmea counter.

Becca Lip & Cheek Creme in Rosebud – Do you know how oddly satisfying it is to use up an entire blush? It’s magical. I loved this blush but I wasn’t sad to see it go because it felt like such a monumental achievement. I’m not sure that I’ll repurchase this, I don’t stay loyal to blush (except for the Stila convertible colour in gerbera which I finished up and repurchased some time last year) because there are so many beautiful products out there that I want to try.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer in Light – I’ve had two tubes of this concealer in this shade (and two in the shade fair) and for some reason, the ‘light’ shade packaging always seems to break. This is the darker of the two shades, so I’ll be purchasing this again when the weather heats up and I start to get some colour on my face.

L’Oreal Sublime Mousse Conditioner – As always, I managed to finish up one of these little conditioners that comes with my hair dye. Nothing too exciting.

Kiehl’s Creme de Corps – I really liked this body lotion, and would consider purchasing a full size of the product in the future. It was a nicely moisturising, unscented lotion that would be great for day-to-day use.

beautycycle Earth Restoring Balance Day Lotion – I liked this lotion, it was lightweight and smelled really refreshing and summery but it took a little bit of time to sink into my skin which would probably get annoying after a while. I don’t think I’ll be purchasing a full sized version of this any time soon.

Weleda Almond Soothing Facial Cream – If you’re in the market for gentle but hard working and super moisturising skin care products I highly recommend the Weleda almond products. I love everything I’ve tried from the range and this cream is no exception.

Product Review: beautycycle Light Up Lip Gloss (giveaway closed)

I’m going to make a grand sweeping statement here and say that I feel like there are two categories of women: those who love lipstick and those who love lip gloss. Of course most women would probably wear both from time to time but I feel like we all have a favourite. As for me, I tend to drift between the two camps depending on my mood but at the end of the day my heart lies with lip gloss. I’m always excited to discover new kinds of lip gloss because I feel like every brand has something different to offer. Enter beautycycle.

Pictured above from top to bottom are the shades ‘champagne’, ‘passion’, and ‘glitz’. There are three colours in the range, but within these three shades is something to suit any skin tone. Clearly the best suited for my fellow pale-faced girls is glitz, which is one of those beautiful ‘your lips but better’ shades of pink. The glosses are in the mid range for pigmentation and they have a hint of shimmer to them. They have a faint peppermint scent, and they make my lips tingle after application. My favourite thing about these glosses is that they don’t feel tacky on the lips, so when I wear them in windy weather my hair doesn’t stick to my lips and drag coloured residue across my face when I try to remove it. This is otherwise known as the lip gloss jackpot. The beauty cycle light up lip glosses come with a built in light and mirror that make it easy to apply the product if you’re stuck in a situation with terrible lighting (ie: the bathroom at my workplace). The beautycycle light up lip gloss retails for $18 AUD and can be purchased from Amway online. (note: products provided for consideration for review)
