May Fitness Chat

Time for some May Fitness chat, better known in my mind as the working title ‘better late than never?!‘. As it turns out, getting motivation back after an overseas trip is quite difficult. I didn’t do too badly while we were away (I made an effort to swim some laps during our daily pool time, and walked quite a bit while exploring the area we were staying in), but since returning home I’ve done basically nothing. It’s time to get back into setting goals and pushing myself outside my comfort zone. My comfort zone, if you’re wondering, is on the couch watching 5 episodes of LOST a night before crawling into bed.

April Goals
Get back on track (physically and mentally) – I was progressing well before my trip, and mentally I feel ready to get back into the swing of things. I feel a lot more motivated now than I did earlier in the year, so I’m counting that as a success. Plan lunches – I’m not doing too badly in this regard, I rarely buy my lunch now and try to take leftovers (of our healthy dinners), or a salad for lunch. Increase weekly workouts to 4 per week – Nope. Keep a fitness diary – While I haven’t yet figured out how I’m going to use my Lorna Jane diary for this, I have been tracking all of my workouts and progress and I’m still using gold stars in my day planner to help keep track of my gym days.

Monthly Goals
Because I’m focusing on getting back into a routine, my monthly goals are not going to be too intense. Basically, I just want to reset myself mentally and get back into the swing of things now that I’ve returned from my holiday. I want to start tracking my food, so I can see what’s going on with my nutrition and where I can start doing a bit better with my eating (not eating 4 strawberries and cream Lindt balls a night could be a start). I want to keep track of my progress for each workout that I complete, and have a structure to my general exercise ‘plan’. It’s nearly June already (wtf guys), so I’m hoping to bump things up a bit next month.

* Kimberley mentioned Run Hundred on twitter a little while ago, and I think it’s such a great idea for a website and will be really useful the next time I’m looking to add some new music to my workout playlist. ** She also mentioned really liking the Yoga Studio App, so I’m downloading it to try it out this weekend. *** My top song to work out to at the moment is ‘Bounce‘ by Iggy Azalea.
