Top 3 Sick Day Skincare Must Haves

I am officially on day 7 of this hideous midsummer head cold, and I am feeling less than wonderful right now. There is nothing like getting sick during a planned holiday to really cheer you up! Oh well, it could be worse. I could be struggling through work right now wishing I was here at home. I find that my skin really has a rough time of it when I get sick. I get oily, then dry, then break out, then of course I end up looking generally dull-faced and ill. I’m making a conscious effort to combat sick-day skin this time around, with some old favourites.

Antipodes Vanilla Pod Hydrating Day Cream – When I’m sick, I like to up the ante when it comes to moisturisation. I’ve been using this cream on my face daily, and it feels so wonderful. It’s very thick, and my skin has been drinking it up. The lovely vanilla orange scent that it seems to leave on my skin also gives me a subtle little pick me up from time to time.

Fresh Sugar Advanced Therapy Lip Treatment – I don’t know where I would be without this lip conditioner. It’s thick, it’s hydrating, it leaves my dry and cracked lips feeling plump and soft and I love it. I’m going to need to buy back up soon…

Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant – Exfoliation is key when it comes to avoiding dull skin, and this is my current (and all-time) favourite facial exfoliant. It’s gentle enough so that it doesn’t feel like it’s irritating the skin, and it does a bloody good job of making your face glow with good health and vitality… even if you’re faking it.

What are your must-have skin care products for when you feel a bit sick?

December Giveaway #5 – Books (winners)

This is the final December giveaway winner draw! It was a lot of fun for me, and thanks to everyone who participated. Congratulations to Caitlin (Dark Places by Gillian Flynn), Lena (Intensity by Dean Koontz), Katherine (A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving), and Michaela (In The Blood by Lisa Unger), who were the winners of the Books(!) giveaway! I will be contacting you all soon. I will hopefully be hosting another run of giveaways sometime soon, so stay tuned!

Planner Chat: Monthly Tasks

One feature of all of my previous planners that I never felt like I was utilising properly is the ‘notes’ section. I decided that I wanted to try and get some benefit from that area, and one of the ways in which I am doing that is by tracking my monthly “chores”. There are certain things that I need to do around the house once a month or so, and if I don’t write them down, life often gets in the way of me remembering to do them. So I figured writing out a neat little chart (with handy boxes for ticking as we go), was the best option. Here are the items on my monthly tasks list –

– Write Meal Plan
– Clean Out Fridge (toss out anything past it’s use-by date, wipe down shelves etc)
– Clean Out Pantry (as above)
– Mop Bathroom Floor
– Clean Out Freezer (take a look at what we have leftover from the previous month, adjust the monthly shopping list accordingly)
– File & Shred (clean out the paperwork drawers on my desk, file and shred where necessary)
– Movies (clear out any unwanted DVDs from the DVD drawer, replace with digital files)
– Wardrobe (purge where necessary)
– Clear out the Linen Press
– Coles Order (place the monthly order of groceries)
– TBL Filing (file away any press releases I received for TBL)
– Deep Clean Shower
– Bathroom Swaps (switch out any items I like to change monthly – razors, etc)
– Budget (check in on the previous month’s budget, and write up a new budget sheet for the following month)
– Makeup Brushes (deep clean all of my makeup brushes and my beauty blenders)

Hopefully having these all written out will be a big help in me keeping on top of everything!

Thoughts of the week…

01) So it’s looking more and more like The X Files will be returning to television. I am very, VERY excited for this, and I hope everything runs smoothly so that Mulder and Scully can reside happily on my screen once more.

02) Speaking of all things UFO, this amazing collection of documented sighting of UFOs since the 1940s is pretty awesome.

03) Serial fans probably saw this interesting bit of news pop up during the week. Seems like Asia listened to the Serial Podcast too, and is ready to give evidence about that day in the library.

04) Pepsi says hello!

05) I absolutely need this lipstick. Thanks Emma Stone.

06) Jessie Baylin and Nathan Followill’s house is pretty spectacular.

07) I am absolutely addicted to SnapChat. If you’re a snapchatter be sure to leave your username in the comments below and I’ll add you!

08) Will Arnett is starring in a new show, and I’m very excited about it. I love Will Arnett.

09) This was my favourite viral Taylor Swift video of the week.

10) We headed down south over the weekend (although my midsummer headcold was enough to bring us home early), and it was nice to get away for a bit. I hope you all had a happy and safe Australia Day weekend!
