Weekly Catch Up

I mentioned in my previous post that I’m planning to turn my content around slightly this year, and include more ‘personal posts’. My weekly wrap ups this year will be sort of like a journal entry, and a little insight into how my week has gone.

If you follow me on twitter you probably know that it’s been a bit of a hectic time for me lately. My partner Sebastian had surgery to remove his tonsils and adenoids, and the surgeon performed a UPPP (Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty – try saying that three times in a row) at the same time. The third is supposed to help Sebastian with his sleep, but so far it hasn’t done much to help. Mostly because he’s still recovering and his throat and nasal passages are still quite inflamed and sore. Anyhoo, the surgery itself went quite well but Sebastian had some complications that saw us in the emergency departent twice and him re-admitted to hospital. It was quite a stressful and exhausting time, and it seems like it took a toll on my body because this week I came down with a stomach virus. Great timing! At least on the bright side it’s better for me to be sick now rather than when Sebastian was in and out of hospital. We both need to recover ASAP because a) Sebastian starts his new job next week and b) one of my dear friends is getting married soon and we have events aplenty coming up. Send healing vibes!

Speaking of upcoming events, I still don’t know what I’m wearing to my friend’s wedding. I have a few options on the go, but I currently hate all of them. Don’t you hate it when that happens? Or maybe it’s just me…

The Walking Dead returned this week, and boy was it a doozy of an episode. I’d even go so far to say it was one of the best episodes of the entire series so far. I’m so glad I picked this show back up last year, it had fallen by the wayside for me but it’s gotten so much better this past season and a half. Sebastian and I have been watching The X Files re-boot every week, and I’m so sad that it’s coming to an end. 6 episodes is not nearly enough, and to be honest it feels like nothing has really happened at all. I was so sure the majority of this season would focus on the long-running conspiracy storyline rather than ‘monster of the week’ episodes, but it seems like I was wrong. Sebastian has also been powering through Dexter (I’ve already seen it all), and is up to the final season already. I’ve been catching episodes here and there – it really was a good show up until the last couple of seasons. I have no idea why they took things in the direction they did. Not my fave. We saw Deadpool on Valentine’s Day, which was a lot of fun. I think it may have been slightly overhyped for me, but I still enjoyed it. We also watched the Goosebumps movie this week, and it made me so happy. I think they did the Goosebumps books justice, although I would have liked to see more of the old-school Goosebumps villans. Slappy was done well, and thankfully the graphics were worlds above what the TV show used to offer. For my fellow Goosebumps fans, this blog is worth a read. Music-wise, nothing has inspired me lately. I’m looking forward to one (any?!) of my favourite artists releasing a new album so I have something new to listen to. In the world of books I’m somehow 2 books ahead in my 40 Book Challenge for the year, which could be due to me having a 4 book rotation going rather than focusing on one book at a time. This definitely helps if I feel myself fall into a reading slump with a particular book, I have three others to fall back on.

Life on the whole at the moment is pretty stressful, so I’m trying to fall back on my little routines to help keep me balanced and sane. I’ve started writing weekly goal sheets, which is helping me tick off the basics that help me in mind/body/soul. I’ll share this with you next week, hopefully it’s something that will help others keep on track too. Oh, and guess who ordered herself a shiny new Plum Paper Planner?

4 Thoughts on “Weekly Catch Up

  1. Love hearing your personal updates. I was really over watching the walking dead and viewed it more out of obligation than enjoyment so I was really happy to watch this weeks episode. It was so good I felt like it went really quickly! Thanks for the book recommendations on lookatallthesebooks. I read ‘what Alice forgot’, ‘the killing lessons’ and ‘you’. Great reads so please keep them coming xx

  2. Love these and hope you enjoy giving the blog a new spin x
