June / Sims-A-Thon TBR

Instead of my standard TBR for this month, I am sharing what I plan to read for the Sims-A-Thon. This is a month-long readathon that runs from June 1st to June 30th, and was created by Cara from BiancaReads. You can watch her video about the readathon here, and find the information pack here. Here is what I plan on reading in the month of June:

[create-a-sim – read a book that is first in a series]Heaven by V.C. Andrews“Of all the folks in the mountain shacks, the Casteels were the lowest– the scum of the hills. Heaven Leigh Casteel was the prettiest, smartest girl in the backwoods, despite her ragged clothes and dirty face… despite a father meaner than ten vipers… despite her weary stepmother, who worked her like a mule. For her brother Tom and the little ones, Heaven clung to her pride and her hopes. Someday they’d get away and show the world that they were decent, fine and talented– worthy of love and respect. Then Heaven’s stepmother ran off, and her wicked, greedy father had a scheme– a vicious scheme that threatened to destroy the precious dream of Heaven and the children forever.”

[buy a house – read a contemporary or book set in our world]Normal People by Sally Rooney“Connell and Marianne grow up in the same small town in rural Ireland. The similarities end there; they are from very different worlds. When they both earn places at Trinity College in Dublin, a connection that has grown between them lasts long into the following years.”

[get a job – (criminal) – read a thriller]The Chalk Man by C.J. Tudor“It was only meant to be a game… None of us ever agreed on the exact beginning. Was it when we started drawing the chalk figures, or when they started to appear on their own? Was it the terrible accident? Or when they found the first body?”

[get a promotion – read a book you think will be 5 stars]Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid“They were the new icons of rock and roll, fated to burn bright and not fade away. But on 12 July 1979, it all came crashing down. There was Daisy, rock and roll force of nature, brilliant songwriter and unapologetic drug addict, the half-feral child who rose to superstardom. There was Camila, the frontman’s wife, too strong-willed to let the band implode – and all too aware of the electric connection between her husband and Daisy. There was Karen, ice-cool keyboardist, a ferociously independent woman in a world that wasn’t ready for her. And there were the men surrounding them: the feuding, egotistical Dunne brothers, the angry guitarist chafing on the sidelines, the drummer binge-drinking on his boat, the bassist trying to start a family amid a hedonistic world tour. They were creative minds striking sparks from each other, ready to go up in flames. It’s never just about the music…”

[cook french toast – read a travel book] – Sweet Valley High: Perfect Summer“It’s summer in Sweet Valley, and the Wakefield twins and their friends are taking a bike trip up the beautiful California coast. What could be more exciting than four weeks of glorious sunshine, sandy beaches, and endless fun at every stop? But the dream of a perfect vacation soon fades. Elizabeth Wakefield is about to break up with her boyfriend, Todd, over another girl. Her twin, Jessica, chases after sexy Robbie October, who ignores her. Bruce Patman is mean to his cousin Roger, Lila Fowler holds a grudge against Ms. Dalton, and Ms. Dalton is barely speaking to Mr. Collins. Can this feuding group unite when an unexpected disaster threatens their lives?”

[get married – read a book with an established couple] – Sweet Valley University: No Means No“Jessica Wakefield’s met the perfect guy. James Montgomery is gorgeous, intelligent and, best of all, he adores her. But James wants more from Jessica than she is willing to give. Can he take no for an answer? Elizabeth Wakefield has learned something terrifying about Jessica’s new boyfriend. Can she save her sister before it’s too late? Lila Fowler and Bruce Patman are stranded in the wilderness, driving each other insane. Is there a secret attraction behind their stormy arguments? William White has returned to the SVU campus with one thing in mind – Elizabeth Wakefield. He’s going to get her back any way he can.”
