Product Review: Jergens Daily Moisture (fragrance free)

I was a big fan of scented body lotions up until a couple of years ago when my tastes changed completely. Now I’m all about the fragrance-free stuff, and for a couple of reasons. First of all, I find that if I wear non-scented body lotion my perfume wears better throughout the day and secondly, I have sensitive skin and the fragrance-free options do a much better job of not irritating my skin. I decided to pick this lotion up while browsing my local Priceline, as I’d noticed a lot of people on twitter getting excited that the Jergen’s range was now available in Australia. I’d never heard of the Jergens brand before so I wasn’t sure what all the fuss was about, but now I do. This is a GREAT product. It doesn’t irritate my skin at all, even if I apply it immediately after shaving. It’s targeted at dry skin so it’s quite a thick lotion, but it sinks into skin quickly, and I can easily apply this right before putting on my clothes in the morning. I also love that it comes in a pump bottle, because it makes it all the more easy to apply on the go. It really is fragrance free, some lotions claim this but then they have a weird kind of smell to them – this doesn’t. If you’re in the market for a decent body moisturiser for summer, definitely check this out. The Jergens Daily Moisture (fragrance free) retails for $7.99 AUD (currently on sale for $5.99) and is available for purchase from Priceline.

Product Review: Demeter ‘Lemon Meringue’ Cologne Spray

I first heard about Demeter fragrances years ago, before they were readily available for purchase in Australia. This was frustrating, because there were so many scents from the range that I wanted to try for myself. I was recently made aware that MU Australia stock a wide range of scents from Demeter, including a little gem called ‘Lemon Meringue’. Now, Demeter fragrances are essentially supposed to smell like whatever the particular cologne is called, and this is no exception. This smells EXACTLY like a big ol’ piece of lemon meringue pie. Delicious. They have somehow found the right balance between the citrus element of the lemon and the sugar of the meringue without being too bitter or too sweet. If you’re a fan of gourmand scents with a sweet leaning, this is perfection. The only down side to the spray is that the scent is not long lasting, so I tend to chuck the bottle into my handbag for quick touch-ups on the go throughout the day. I’m sure everyone catching public transport with me is dying to figure out what smells like lemon meringue pie. Jokes on you suckers, it’s ME! If you’re keen to try one of the Demeter Cologne Sprays for yourself, there is a wide range of scents to choose from including pizza, and lettuce. Yes, you read that right. Honestly, I’m tempted to get the pizza cologne, just to see if my boyfriend can pick the scent. The Demeter Lemon Meringue Cologne Spray retails for $29.50 AUD and is available for purchase from MU Australia (note: this product was sent for consideration for review).

What’s in my beauty bag? (weekend away edition)

One of my favourite things to do when planning any sort of holiday is to put together a packing list. Naturally, my favourite list to write contains the selection of beauty products I plan to take with me. The best beauty-packing trick I’ve learned over the years is to take as much travel-sized loot as you can. This saves so much space and is far more convenient when lugging things in and out of your suitcase. Also, if you manage to finish up the whole product while you’re away, you can just toss it out. Unless of course you’re a beauty blogger, and you have to pack your trash to bring home with you for a future empties post. Here is a selection of the products I took with me for a 4 day weekend away –

paula’s choice hydralight moisture-infusing lotion, jurlique chamomile soothing mist, nivea fragrance-free facial cleansing wipes, pure fiji hydrating body lotion (coconut infusion), and tresemme moisture rich shampoo & conditioner

If you’re heading away on a holiday anytime soon, or are like me and just love using travel sized beauty products, be sure to check out MiniBarCo – an online store that specializes in travel sized beauty products. While you’re there, be sure to check out the Herban Essentials towelettes, because anti-bacterial wipes seem to come in handy a LOT when traveling.

Product Review: Subtle Energies Detox Body Scrub (+ Giveaway)

Winter is coming. THANK. GOODNESS. I love the colder months of the year, but I tend to fall victim to the weather and let my skin-prep upkeep fall by the wayside (mostly because I’m freezing cold and dying to get out of the shower as soon as I step in). This year I plan to make more of an effort to ensure my skin is freshly scrubbed and moisturised AT ALL TIMES where possible. The first product I’m trying out is the Subtle Energies Rasayana Detox Body Scrub. I love a gritty body scrub. I love the grit. This scrub has a very subtle grain to it, which works wonderfully on my sensitive skin. It’s suggested that you use the scrub once a week, which I do, and it’s enough to keep skin freshly buffed (and as an added bonus, the Rasayana Detox Body Scrub can be used on freshly waxed skin to help prevent ingrown hair). The scrub has a spicy herbal scent to it – which is not something I normally reach for, but it’s not unbearable. All of the elements come together to make this scrub really feel like a ‘spa’ product. The Subtle Energies Rasayana Detox Body Scrub retails for $39.50 AUD and is available for purchase from Subtle Energies.

To coincide with this review, Subtle Energies have been kind enough to offer one lucky reader a Rasayana pack. The pack includes the Rasayana Body Wash, Detox Scrub and Body Lotion and is valued at $119.50. To enter, simply visit the Subtle Energies website, sign up for their newsletter (at the bottom of the page), and let me know that you’ve done so. For an additional two entries, simply spread the word via social media and link me to your post. The giveaway will be drawn on April 19th, and please be aware that it is open to Australian residents only. Good luck!
