Hair @ PFW – Vivienne Westwood

When I first saw this hairstyle, I immediately thought of how well it would work with a paired down autumn/winter outfit. The trick for me will be balancing the fine line of making it look casually tousled and not like I’ve just stepped in from a blustery storm. Pantene‘s Global Stylist Ambassador Sam McKnight created this hair look at Vivienne Westwood, inspired by the romantic heroines of the Rubens. “I wanted to create a hair look that was both reminiscent of the past but at the same time extremely modern. Texture plays a key role in this hair look, so we used lots of Pantene Pro-V Curl Defining Mousse to create an incredibly full and textured effect that has a ‘lived in’ quality to it and brilliant juxtaposes against the fluidity of the soft makeup look”

To get the look yourself –

· Start with freshly washed and conditioned hair. (At Fashion Week, Sam and his team used Pantene Pro-V Aqua Light Nourishing Treatment to treat the hair and improve condition.)
· Apply a moderate amount of Pantene Pro-V Curl Defining Mousse through the hair with your hands and then run each section through from root to end with a wide tooth comb.
· Roughly blowdry the hair using your hands to break the hair up and create a natural finish. (To create more texture use a large barrelled curling tong to create a soft wave in the hair – starting from the underneath section at the back of the head and working upwards.)
· Brush through the hair with a wide soft bristle brush to loosen the curls and create a wave effect. Spray the hair all over with Pantene Pro-V Body Builder Hairspray to add further texture.
· Take a small section of hair from either side of an imagined centre part, twist them over each other and pull down to the opposite side, then take an equal small section of hair from the front of the head from further down the head in line with the lower temple and twist the hair pieces together and then bring each side together at the back of the head and secure with elastic (this creates a natural hair band which helps to anchor the style in place).
· Take the section of loose hair at the back of the head and tie with elastic a short way up from the bottom of the hair to create a very loose pony tail, then roll the tail up and tuck the tail of the ponytail under the natural hair band and pull through to create a looped roll of hair.
· Pull random pieces of hair out of the loop to emphasise the texture and create an undone finish. Spray with Pantene Pro-V Stay Smooth Hairspray to set the style in place.

Product Review: Wella Professionals Enrich Moisturizing Treatment

I try to make a habit of deep conditioning my hair at least once a week (“After all, your hair is your head suit” – Jack Donaghy), and I’ve been using this Wella Professionals moisturizing treatment as part of my routine since receiving it for review a few months ago. My hair is naturally fine, but I have a lot of it and it is prone to frizziness so my deep conditioning treatments need to be able to tame the frizz without weighing down my hair too much. The Wella conditioner pays off in that respect and although it’s quite a thick and heavy conditioner out of the tub, it washes out easily and leaves my hair feeling light but well moisturised. The smell is fresh and fruity without being too overpowering but it doesn’t linger for too long after rinsing the hair. My only issue with this product is the packaging. I have never been a fan of products that are designed for in-shower use that come in tubs. It creates a lot of mess and when you’re as clumsy as I am slippery hands & twisting caps on and off of tubs does not end well. The Wella Professionals Enrich Moisturizing Treatment retails for $24 AUD and is available for purchase from Wella Professional salons. Product Review: Terax Crema Conditioner

I am quite amazed that I haven’t reviewed this product yet as it’s one of my most re-purchased products, well, ever. I was originally introduced to this conditioner many moons ago, after reading that Liv Tyler was a huge fan of the product. As Liv Tyler has perfect hair and is my residing hair idol, I rushed out immediately and bought myself a mammoth tub of the stuff. I originally started using Terax Crema back when it came packaged in a baby blue tube and smelt like a less than joyful mix of toxic chemicals. Since then, the packaging has changed, the smell has changed (it’s now a subtle caramel vanilla sort of scent though hard to describe exactly) but the product is still the same and it still works wonders on my hair. I have fine hair that I wash every day, and this conditioner doesn’t weight it down at all. It does however leave it soft, silky and shiny. Perfection. The Terax Crema Conditioner retails for $29.95 AUD and can be purchased from Adore Beauty.

Product Review: Wella Professionals Enrich Conditioner

I was recently sent the Wella Professionals Enrich conditioner to trial for review, and since starting to use this product I have not looked back. My hair (well, me really…) can be tricky to work with. On the one hand, I love the look and feel of sleek and silky hair, but on the other I like the look of full and voluminous hair. I’ve found it very difficult to achieve both of these at the same time. Thankfully, the Wella Professionals conditioner is helping me to walk this fine line. It took me a couple of days to get used to the product, as after rinsing it doesn’t leave the hair feeling silky (and almost slippery?) like some conditioners do. What it does is leaves the hair feeling stronger. I’ve been using this conditioner every day for the past week or so now and I can see a noticeable and positive difference in the volume and general condition of my hair. The scent of the conditioner is not that strong and hard to describe, but at a pinch I would say it has a fresh and clean scent, not lending itself to floral, fruity or botanical like a lot of my other hair products do. I really like this product and would definitely repurchase in the future. The Wella Enrich Conditioner retails for $24 AUD and is available for purchase from Wella Professional salons. Product Review: Activance Hair Stimulant

When a product comes with the promise of “more hair” more often than not I am 100% skeptical about it. Having said that, the Activance Hair Stimulant came with a lot of positive reviews from fellow bloggers so I have to admit that I was more than a little curious about it. In particular, this review that I read over at Stuff That I Bought, which was so glowing it made me add the product to my “To-Buy ASAP” list as soon as I finished reading it. As luck would have it I was offered the chance to trial this product before I had the chance to purchase it for myself. It’s like big fluffy voluminous hair and I were fated to be together. I have been trialling this product for a few weeks now, and I have to admit – it works. It is designed for all hair types, and to use the product you simply spray it onto towel dry hair, massage it in, leave it for a few minutes and style as usual. The vital ingredient in Activance is Rhodanide. What is Rhodanide? I have no idea, but science types tell me that it’s a natural & essential molecule required in hair. Activance works to rebuild the Rhodanide levels in your hair to help stimulate hair growth and improve hair thickness, volume, shine, strength and quality. After trying this product out for a few weeks now I can say that it definitely makes my hair look fuller than usual, but I do admit that too much of the Activance tends to weigh down my super fine hair and when I use just the right amount (or at least what I deem to be the right amount) my hair ends up fluffier than usual. This doesn’t have to be a bad thing, it just takes a bit of extra styling for me because I wash and dry my hair nearly every day of the week. I think purely for the fact that it makes my hair look a lot thicker than usual, and it has definitely improved the strength and quality of my hair, the small amount of extra effort I have to put in to styling makes it worthwhile. The Activance Hair Stimulant retails for $55 AUD and is available for purchase online from the Activance website. (note: I was sent this product for consideration for review)
