Shopping Diary 02/04/2010

At the beginning of every month I like to go over my shopping list (aka “wishlist) and see what items I am no longer interested in buying. I also like to cross off all of the items that I had bookmarked on online shopping websites and delete the items that I was too slow to pick up. (Oh, Elizabeth and James Alexandra blouse you should have been mine….) Doing this today, I realised that around 90% of what I purchased in March wasn’t even on my shopping list. Oops. I need to try and remedy that. I also need to try and focus on buying less books and DVDs, and more items for my autumn/winter wardrobe. I have been doing prety well with Project 10 Pan so far, with only one slip up involving a local beautician going bust & putting all stock on sale in their store. I just happened to walk past 10 minutes before they closed the doors for good and snapped up a full size bottle of Dermalogica Multi Active Toner & two Napoleon Perdis nail polishes (can can and french pink sheen) for a total of $50 for the lot. That was such a bargain that I just couldn’t resist… Besides that I have avoided all purchases of hair care, skin care and makeup so far. I did however make a few little purchases at ASOS today after receiving an email offering free shipping. And for once this included international shipping! I ordered these items for my autumn/winter wardrobe. (and yes, I realise none of them were on my shopping list. argh!)

That is all the shopping I plan to do this fortnight, next fortnight I will be purchasing 4 different birthday presents (April is a busy month for my family) so I can’t imagine I’ll have too much left over for spending on myself. After that I will be focusing on my Autumn/Winter Wardrobe!

Saturday Survey – March 13

01 Mood: Relaxed. Today is the first official day of my week off of work! I can’t wait to relax and do little more than nothing for the whole week.

02 Best thing about this weekend: Besides the fact that my holiday has started, I am excited to see Mr B play a gig tonight! He is playing at a bar with a couple of friends and I can’t wait to see him on stage again…!

03 Last movie I saw: The Blind Side. It was beautiful. I teared up quite a lot, but I am an emotional sap so that was to be expected. Sandra Bullock was great! It was a great compromise movie too, it had American football in it which made Mr B happy!

04 What I’m watching: I am revisiting my Sweet Valley High DVDs. They are such a crack up. Jessica is wearing Ray Bans in the episode that I’m watching at the moment. 90′s chic!

05 Makeup lust: Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick in Paris. Sandra Bullock wore it to the Oscars, and I thought the colour looked incredible on her! Obviously I am far more beautiful than she is, so it’s going to look even better on me.

06 Listening to: Not so much listening to as watching, but I (along with many others in the world) am obsessed with the new Gaga/Beyonce film clip for Telephone. I’ve watched it about ten times already!

07 Favourite recent purchase: My new ASOS dress arrived yesterday and I love it! It’s the perfect length, and I can imagine it being good for both summer (with sandals) and winter (with tights and ballet flats). Love!

08 What I’m reading: I’m still plugging away with Under The Dome by Stephen King. I’m hoping to finish it up during the holiday.

09 I want: This hot muggy weather to go away. It’s overcast and generally BLAH today. Bring on winter!

10 Aim for this week: Relax, and try not to think about work too much!

Shopping Diary 27/02/2010

In my hungover and hazy state this morning I placed an order at Asos.com and officially blew the budget. I am on a personal no-buy challenge now until March 27th! This means no shopping for anything for myself, and doing my best to spend as little as possible. (this means 1 coffee a day at work, eek the horror!) I may have also made a couple of sneaky purchases at Adore Beauty and the shops yesterday… All things I’ve wanted for a while though! Of course that makes it okay.

I also bought a beautiful watercolour print chiffon blouse from Australian label Basque, Pantene 3 Minute Miracle (3 pack) and three nailpolishes from Mecca Cosmetica (Rosaline, Perdita and Violenta). All shopped out for a while I think!

Blog Sale

I have noticed a lot of blog sales popping up lately and thought I might give it a try. I had a couple of things hanging around in my closet that I’ve been wanting to get rid of for a while, so I figured I might as well offer them out to my readers and hope that they go to a good home!

Marc Jacobs Schooly Field Bag – I purchased this bag a couple of years ago from a friend who was having a bag sale. It is authentic Marc Jacobs. Genuine leather & in good condition. $200 AUD + shipping (pic 1 & pic 2)

Prophecy Top – I purchased this top from Asos.com & have worn it twice. It just doesn’t really suit me, so I’m letting it go to a good home. Material is 100% Polyester. I will ship the spare ‘gems’ that came with the garment. Size L designer UK, fits like an Australian M. Note: it is a little tight around the chest area (I am a size 12D AU) $50 AUD + shipping (pic 1)

ASOS Oversized Silk Blazer – I ordered this blazer from Asos.com earlier in the year and unfortunately they sent me the wrong size. It was too much hassle to return it, so it’s been sitting in my closet ever since! 100% silk blazer with tags still attached. Gorgeous creamy pink colour. It’s a really beautiful jacket actually, I wish it fit! Size is UK 14/ EURO 42/ US 10. $75 AUD + shipping (pic 1)

Oversized Earrings – I bought these earrings a loooong time ago and have only worn them once. They are really funky, but do not suit my style anymore. $10 AUD + shipping (pic 1)

If you are interested in any of these items, please email me at thebellelumiere@gmail.com – I will accept payment via PayPal, and to make things fair it will be first come, first served. Happy shopping!

Saturday Survey (September 5)

01 Mood: Rushed! I feel like I have at least 100 things to do today. Of course, I will get them all done with time to spare… Right??

02 Best thing about this weekend: It’s Father’s Day in Australia, so we’re spending tomorrow with the extended family. Hopefully the weather turns itself around so we can sit outside, have a lovely BBQ lunch and enjoy some time together!

03 Last movie I saw: The Young Victoria. I walked out of the cinema confused as to who I loved more – Emily Blunt, or Rupert Friend. The film itself was beautiful too… The costumes! So exquisite!

04 What I’m watching: Project Runway Australia. It’s the finale this week, and my money is on Lauren to win… (although I believe Anthony is the favourite)

05 Makeup lust: DuWop’s Private Red Lipstick… I cannot wait to try this. I know a lot of women spend too much time and money trying to find the “perfect” red lip… So the idea of a lipstick that changes to your personal chemistry to give you the ideal red lip is definitely intriguing!

06 Listening to:
Say by John Mayer. I was never a huge fan of John Mayer, but I am developing a new respect for his sound. His lyrics are always beautiful.

07 Favourite recent purchase: Asos Pink Silk Blazer. I have ordered this and can’t wait to receive it! Keeping my fingers crossed that it fits properly…

08 What I’m reading:
The Lost World, by Arthur Conan Doyle

09 I want: The house to miraculously clean itself.

10 Aim for this week: Attempt to cross everything off of my ‘to do list’….
