Wardrobe Wednesday: ASOS/Shopbop Haul

I was planning on doing a feature on my earring collection (as requested by Claire), but taking into consideration the fact that I threw even more money at ASOS and Shopbop over the past week or so I figured I might as well share my purchases with the world.

(In my defense, every single item I purchased was on sale…) I had been looking for a nice pair of wedge heeled closed toe ankle boots for a while, so when I saw the above pair on ASOS I couldn’t resist. I also had the leopard print scarf saved in my to-buy folder on my bookmarks and lo and behold when I searched for it, it was on sale. Bonus. The top I was up in the air about, but I thought it would be nice & easy to throw on over jeans with flats to wear to the movies or something like that. So into the basket it went. I also broke all of my wardrobe shopping rules and impulse bought some jeggings (don’t judge me) despite them being the absolute wrong style of jeans for my body type. I had to buy something to push me over the $100 mark to qualify for free international shipping, so I also ordered this baggy jumper to wear over the jeggings to save the world the sight of me in jean style leggings.

Wardrobe Wednesday: Mini Clothing Haul

I had been recently eyeing off a few pieces at ASOS, so come pay day I decided to donate a large chunk of my salary to the cause and buy the clothes I had been lusting after. Of course, as soon as I went to add these particular pieces to my cart I noticed that the majority of them had sold out. Brilliant. Choosing to ignore this sign from the cosmos that perhaps I should be saving my pennies, I headed over to Country Road online and ordered some shoes instead. These are the three items that I ended up buying -

I don’t know how many pairs of black leather ballet flats I have gone through in my lifetime, but I know I get my monies worth because I literally wear them until they fall to pieces. As I’ve mentioned previously, the Country Road ballet flats are my favourites (trumped only by Lanvin ballet flats, which at close to $800 a pop are more a ‘special occasion’ shoe than anything else. or a pipe dream. let’s go with special occasion shoe.) and I wear them to work practically every day of the week.

Work Style Monday – Spotlight on: ASOS

It’s been a little while since my last ‘Work Style Monday‘ post, but I’m back into the swing of things this week with a spotlight on the UK based online clothing store ASOS. ASOS has been killing it lately, and I’ve spent a lot of time window shopping the site after they started offering free international shipping & have released quite a few 20% off discount codes recently. Unfortunately, a lot of the clothes on ASOS are not really appropriate to wear to work, but there are some great finds on there so I thought I would share my top 10 favourite work-style pieces with you guys.

Autumn/Winter Wardrobe

The time has come the walrus said to start thinking about my Autumn/Winter wardrobe for the year. Winter is my favourite season, so despite the fact that the temperature is still in the high 30′s, I am already eagerly trawling the internet for beautiful cold-weather pieces. I’ve not been feeling well for the past couple of days so I decided to treat myself and take advantage of the ASOS free shipping and 15% discount code that is available at the moment (VIPSS11 for those playing at home). I ended up with these two pieces for my Autumn/Winter wardrobe this year:

I’m making a conscious effort to pick pieces in shapes and colours that I know I’ll get a lot of wear out of this year. Truth be told I really did not need another scarf this season, and as snobby as it sounds I tend to opt for cashmere scarves most of the time (this one is acrylic) but I couldn’t resist the beautiful forest green colour. After browsing ASOS for a while and settling for those two pieces I did my monthly Etsy search for the term “peacock” to see what gems I could find. I ended up buying this bangle as soon as the page opened. It’ll probably end up being hideously tacky but who cares, it’s a peacock.

Shopping Diary 02/04/2010

At the beginning of every month I like to go over my shopping list (aka “wishlist) and see what items I am no longer interested in buying. I also like to cross off all of the items that I had bookmarked on online shopping websites and delete the items that I was too slow to pick up. (Oh, Elizabeth and James Alexandra blouse you should have been mine….) Doing this today, I realised that around 90% of what I purchased in March wasn’t even on my shopping list. Oops. I need to try and remedy that. I also need to try and focus on buying less books and DVDs, and more items for my autumn/winter wardrobe. I have been doing prety well with Project 10 Pan so far, with only one slip up involving a local beautician going bust & putting all stock on sale in their store. I just happened to walk past 10 minutes before they closed the doors for good and snapped up a full size bottle of Dermalogica Multi Active Toner & two Napoleon Perdis nail polishes (can can and french pink sheen) for a total of $50 for the lot. That was such a bargain that I just couldn’t resist… Besides that I have avoided all purchases of hair care, skin care and makeup so far. I did however make a few little purchases at ASOS today after receiving an email offering free shipping. And for once this included international shipping! I ordered these items for my autumn/winter wardrobe. (and yes, I realise none of them were on my shopping list. argh!)

That is all the shopping I plan to do this fortnight, next fortnight I will be purchasing 4 different birthday presents (April is a busy month for my family) so I can’t imagine I’ll have too much left over for spending on myself. After that I will be focusing on my Autumn/Winter Wardrobe!

Shopping Diary 27/02/2010

In my hungover and hazy state this morning I placed an order at Asos.com and officially blew the budget. I am on a personal no-buy challenge now until March 27th! This means no shopping for anything for myself, and doing my best to spend as little as possible. (this means 1 coffee a day at work, eek the horror!) I may have also made a couple of sneaky purchases at Adore Beauty and the shops yesterday… All things I’ve wanted for a while though! Of course that makes it okay.

I also bought a beautiful watercolour print chiffon blouse from Australian label Basque, Pantene 3 Minute Miracle (3 pack) and three nailpolishes from Mecca Cosmetica (Rosaline, Perdita and Violenta). All shopped out for a while I think!

Blog Sale

I have noticed a lot of blog sales popping up lately and thought I might give it a try. I had a couple of things hanging around in my closet that I’ve been wanting to get rid of for a while, so I figured I might as well offer them out to my readers and hope that they go to a good home!

Marc Jacobs Schooly Field Bag – I purchased this bag a couple of years ago from a friend who was having a bag sale. It is authentic Marc Jacobs. Genuine leather & in good condition. $200 AUD + shipping (pic 1 & pic 2)

Prophecy Top – I purchased this top from Asos.com & have worn it twice. It just doesn’t really suit me, so I’m letting it go to a good home. Material is 100% Polyester. I will ship the spare ‘gems’ that came with the garment. Size L designer UK, fits like an Australian M. Note: it is a little tight around the chest area (I am a size 12D AU) $50 AUD + shipping (pic 1)

ASOS Oversized Silk Blazer – I ordered this blazer from Asos.com earlier in the year and unfortunately they sent me the wrong size. It was too much hassle to return it, so it’s been sitting in my closet ever since! 100% silk blazer with tags still attached. Gorgeous creamy pink colour. It’s a really beautiful jacket actually, I wish it fit! Size is UK 14/ EURO 42/ US 10. $75 AUD + shipping (pic 1)

Oversized Earrings – I bought these earrings a loooong time ago and have only worn them once. They are really funky, but do not suit my style anymore. $10 AUD + shipping (pic 1)

If you are interested in any of these items, please email me at thebellelumiere@gmail.com – I will accept payment via PayPal, and to make things fair it will be first come, first served. Happy shopping!
