Product Review: Becca Fallen Angels Palette

I’ve always been hesitant to buy makeup sets, mainly due to the fact that I feel like I wouldn’t be able to use up the whole palette as there are generally only one or two items within the palette that I like, and the rest would go to waste. Thankfully this is definitely not the case with the Becca Fallen Angels palette. I didn’t actually buy this product for myself, it was sent to me by Pinkcupcake from The Adore Beauty Forums, during their yearly Secret Santa event. And even though this is probably not a product I would’ve ever purchased for myself, I’m absolutely in love with it.

From the top we have the Highlighter in Narcissus, The Lip & Cheek Creme in Nectar and the Lipgloss in Sunrise. The colours are a lot warmer than I would normally opt for, but they actually look really beautiful on my cool toned and very fair skin. The blush in particular looks quite heavily pigmented in the above swatch, but if you’ve not used the Becca Lip & Cheek Creme’s in the past you should know that they blend out beautifully. Nectar blends out to be a beautiful coral-orange shade, which was perfect during summer. I’m not sure the above swatches really do the products justice, because the highlighter looks far more beautiful than that in person. So much so that I would repurchase a full size of it, if I ever manage to get through the palette sized product. The Becca Fallen Angels Palette retails for $65 AUD and can be purchased from Australian online beauty retailer Adore Beauty. Note: This was a limited edition product, so stock will be limited.

Guest Blog – Katerina’s Complete Eyeshadow Bible Pt 2

As I mentioned previously, the lovely Katerina Psathas from Adore Beauty was kind enough to write up a lengthy guest post for The Belle Lumiere. Part one of her guest blog was dedicated to the basics of eye makeup, and in part two take a look at what products are suitable for blue eyed beauties!

Katerina’s Complete Eyeshadow Bible Pt 2

Blue eyes: For all our Blue-eyed Bonita’s, the following color’s will make your eyes pop

- Dark Brown
- Warm Brown
- Bronze
- Rust
- Copper
- Gold
- Orange
- Peach
- Grey

Katerina’s choice for Blue Eyes:

Duwop makes some fabulous palettes for specific eye colours, Duwop Eye Palette The Browns and The Golds ($49 ea). Why? These palettes contain 4 eye shadow colors, a cream liner and double ended brush for easy application. There’s also a guide on the back which labels each colours use; base colour, lighten it, darken it etc. Worth every penny.

Napoleon Perdis Surreal World Prismatic Eye Shadow Quad ($49) are another favourite with highly pigmented shadows. 4, 5, 11 and 13 are suitable depending on the intensity of colour you choose to wear. (#11 is pictured) Why? The pigment in these shadows is fantastic. To be honest, I bought the entire palette just for the dark brown colour in the bottom left, but have been surprised at how much I use the others. They work incredibly well together and are easy to mix and much with other colours.

Becca Eye Colour (Powder Demi-Matte) in Linen $44 Why? Because of the way everyone scrunches up their nose when I say “orange eye shadow” but falls in love the minute they see this one. Aside from the superior quality (as with all Becca products) the colour is just hot. Has a soft shimmer through it and is brilliant enough to wear alone, and just as hot when smoked up.

I hope this was helpful to all of you blue eyed girls out there! All products listed are available for purchase from Adore Beauty. Next up – Part 3: Brown Eyes. Stay tuned!

The Beauty Cupboard – Makeup Pt 1

As with my skincare favourites, I have a set of “must haves” for makeup. These products are always in my makeup bag. (and if not, they are at the top of my shopping list to be purchased asap!)
Givenchy Photo Perfexion Foundation in Perfect Ivory

After years of searching for the holy grail, I think I’ve finally found the perfect foundation for my oh so fair, oh so temperamental skin. The only downside is that it is not oil free, but I think that is a small price to pay for a foundation shade that suits my skin perfectly. The foundation is light enough to be worn during the day, and can be built up for a flawless night time look. If only they stocked Givenchy foundation in Australia! I spend way too much time trying to find places online that I can buy it from. I bought my current bottle from Sephora in New York, and am hoping to make it last as long as possible!

Becca Lip And Cheek Creme in Rosebud

I love this product so much. I only ever use it on my cheeks (yet to try it on my lips) and it’s the perfect shade of pink. It blends smoothly onto skin, and lasts all day long. I apply mine with a foundation brush, but you can easily apply with fingertips – (some creme blushes are uneven and blotchy when applied with fingers, not this one!) Beware when buying Becca Cheek Cremes though, they are so beautiful you will get addicted and need one in every shade!

Lancome Hypnose Mascara in Black

After running out of my long time favourite mascara – Lancome Definicils – I decided to give Hypnose a try. It has a similar lengthening effect to Definicils, but with the added benefit of some oomph as far as volume goes. It’s a great black-black mascara, that doesn’t flake during the day, lengthens and thickens lashes. What more could you want?
