The Aussie dollar has been performing like a champion lately, and I know a lot of my fellow beauty bloggers have been taking advantage of the strong exchange rate and doing a bit of online shopping. I am no exception, and have placed a few orders at MAC, Bath + Body Works and Sephora (the elusive Urban Decay Naked Palette shall be mine at last!). Pictured above are my most recent beauty acquisitions: Bath + Body Works Black Raspberry Vanilla Shower Gel & Triple Moisture Body Cream, Dermalogica Concealing Spot Treatment, Barrier Repair and Sheer Tint Redness Relief (all sent for consideration for review), MAC Eyeshadow in Phloof, Eyeshadow in Orb, Softsparkle Eye Pencil in Iris Accents and Mineralize Blush in Buddy Up, Benefit Cha Cha Tint (sent for review), Bobbi Brown Lipgloss in Hot Pink, Co Bigelow Apple Rose Salve, Co Bigelow Blueberry Rose Salve, Liplicious Signature Vanilla Berry Tasty Lipgloss, Liplicious Pineapple Juice Tasty Lipgloss and Co Bigelow Organics Strawberries & Cream Moisturizing Lip Shine.
Benefit recently released 4 new shades within their Ultra Shines Lip Shine collection, and I was lucky enough to receive one of the glosses (in the shade ‘so frisk me’) to trial and review. The other shades in the collection are ‘nudie-tude’ (goldspun twist), ‘nookie nookie’ (opal glaze) and ‘patootie’ (oyster pink). Despite my longstanding love for the Benefit brand this was the first lip product from their range that I’ve ever tried, but it is a safe bet that after using this gloss I will be buying more in the future.
In the tube the colour looks to be quite dark but on application to the lips it’s a gorgeous semi-opaque berry colour that contains a lot of shimmer. It’s not too sparkly though, I can still wear it to work without feeling to overdone. The shimmer looks incredible in the sunlight and I’ve received quite a few comments on this gloss while standing outside, if that is anything to go by. The longevity of the product is quite good, with the gloss lasting 2-3 on average for me. I absolutely love the scent of the gloss, it’s a really summery fruity sort of smell that reminds me of skittles. The Ultra Shine Lip Shine range retails for $34 AUD and is available for purchase online from Adore Beauty. (note: I was sent this product for consideration for review)
In case you were wondering, Valentine’s Day is coming up soon… Yep, that gloriously cheesy and often depressing hallmark holiday that I love so much (not as much as Christmas though). To celebrate, Benefit is releasing “Love It Up”, which is a limited edition collectible set of their Lookin’ To Rock Rita eau de toilette & a complementing silk scented body lotion. The packaging is absolutely amazing, and when I received the package in the mail the scent of the products had permeated all of the packaging making everything smell absolutely delicious. How gorgeous is the box that it comes in?
I think the packaging alone would be impressive as a present, is that weird? (don’t answer that.) The fragrance is not something I would have chosen for myself, it’s very ‘green’ and fruity though and is a lovely scent for summer. It warms up after the initial application like most fragrances, and grows muskier throughout the day and I like the scent most after a couple of hours of wearing it. The scent doesn’t have incredible staying power, it’s more of a weekend sort of fragrance for me, with a couple of sprays lasting for around 5 hours before the scent wears off. Wearing it in combination with the body lotion helps the scent maintain it’s strength for a lot longer, but I would only suggest doing this if you absolutely love the smell as it is very strong and could be overpowering. The Benefit “Love It Up” set is due for release on January 29th 2011, and retails for $59.00 AUD. Check your local Benefit counter for the set, or call (02) 8353 5000 for stockist information. Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liners have well and truly cemented their place on my favourite products of 2010 list. If there was such a list. Which I guess there is in my head, but I probably won’t be doing an actual post about it. So yes, the Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liners are pretty amazing. You may remember that I ordered 3 of the shadow/liners on a whim after seeing swatches of a few of them over at Dee’s blog. So far Honey Bunny has been the one that I have worn the most. It’s the in-between colour as far as the shades that I purchased go, and I’ve been wearing it practically every day teamed with MAC Naked Lunch and Dazzlelight as a highlight.
You can wear the Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liners on their own as shadows (or liners I guess?) but I’ve found that they make really amazing primers when worn under powder shadow. When I’m feeling lazy I will wear them solo, but more often than not I have been wearing them matched with powder eyeshadows and I’ve been amazed at the staying powder that they provide. Even with my oily, hooded eyelids (how beautiful does that sound?) my eye makeup has been lasting entire work days, even in 40 degree (+!) heat. I was applying them using my Benefit shadow/liner brush, but honestly I find that I get better coverage and it’s easier to apply if I use my fingers. The Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liners retail for $34 AUD but you can currently snap them up for $17 over at Strawberrynet.
After reading Dee’s post regarding Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liners, I decided I needed some in my life. So I ordered the shades RSVP & Honey Bunny based on the swatches she posted, and also Recess because I’ve had that shade before and remember liking it. I also posted another rambling thinking-out-loud video after opening these for the first time here, if you’re interested. I can’t wait to wear these tonight!
