December is always a busy month, what with me being COMPLETELY F*CKING OBSESSED WITH CHRISTMAS and all. I love Christmas, just ask anyone in my life and they will no doubt regale you with tales of how I baked them cookies and made them listen to that one Bing Crosby Christmas album three thousand times. Due to me being so busy with Christmas, I tend to keep things in my routine pretty simple and use less of a variety when it comes to beauty products than I normally would. My most reached for products in December were: Bath + Body Works Twisted Peppermint Body Lotion (I use this exclusively in December so now it will always remind me of Christmas… perfect), Muppets for OPI ‘Gettin Miss Piggy With It’ Polish (this makes for a great Christmas nail when layered over OPI Red), Bloom Lip Gloss in Shine, MAC Eyeshadow in Orb & Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso aka the most perfect blush to exist, ever.

I needed a new peach-toned lip gloss so I hot-footed it over to the Bloom website to have a browse, because I was also interested in buying one of their sheer colour creams (which never eventuated btw but that is a whole different rant altogether). After checking out the colour range of the Bloom glosses I decided that Wanderlust was the one for me. And right I was because this gloss is beautiful, and exactly what I was after.
The gloss is richly pigmented but is sheer enough that I can wear it comfortably for day time despite my weird phobia of wearing brightly coloured lip products to the office. The gloss is quite thick and ‘tacky’ feeling on application, but I don’t really mind that as I know it just means that the product will last a lot longer on the lips. I really really love this gloss and will definitely check out more colours from the range in the future. The Bloom Lipgloss in Wanderlust retails for $25 AUD and can be purchased online from
Adore Beauty.

During my recent trip to Sydney, I stumbled across the b collection by Bloom counter at Target. I’d heard about this collection but had never had the chance to play around with it in person so I was pretty excited to find the counter (though slightly disappointed that there weren’t many products left on the shelf). As always, I went straight to the blush and immediately reached for the gorgeous peach-pink shade Yarra Valley. I then spent about 5 minutes trying to figure how to operate the packaging. Once I had wrestled it open I fell in love with the formulation of the blush, and the colour.

The formulation is very similar to the new MAC Cremeblend blushes in that the blush applies quite sheer, but is easily buildable. The colour is absolutely gorgeous and looks very natural on fair skin (I built the colour up quite a bit in the above swatch). I’m not sure how well it would show on a darker skin tone, but as it’s buildable I’m sure it could be easily layered show more colour. I am loving this blush and guessing that it will be getting a lot of wear this spring. The b collection by Bloom Cheek Tint in Yarra Valley retails for $19.95 AUD and can be purchased from Target Australia.

Pictured above are the products that I purchased before and during my trip to the wonderful city of Sydney. I’m not really sure why I purchased anything before going as the shopping in Sydney is pretty amazeballs, but I did so here we are. I managed to track down some of the old MOR Milk stock at a DFO in Homebush and was absolutely thrilled with my find. This is one of my all time favourite scents, and I am totally bummed that MOR have discontinued it. (Though according to their
Twitter account, the closest scents in the current range are Honey or Candied Vanilla Almond) I also purchased the
Flourish Body Milk in Saltwater, a Lanolips Lip Ointment in Sunshine, two mini Bloom soaps in Vanilla Bean and Brown Sugar & Fig and a b collection by Bloom Cheek Tint in Yarra Valley. I also picked up a MOR perfume oil in the scent Marshmallow and 3 perfume oils from Flourish in the scents Sugar, Almond Milk (a replacement) and Saltwater. And of course 3 of the b collection by Bloom nail polishes in the shades Seychelles, Santorini and Barcelona.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I try to book one day off in December to dedicate to Christmas shopping. I happened to do this on Friday, and I also happened to spend more on myself than I did on presents. (well not really, but close to it…) I’m not too upset by the fact that I spent so much though, as everything I bought for myself was necessary in my mind. I’m good at justifying like that. I made
a little haul video on youtube talking about the items that I bought, and I’ve also included a picture of the Basque dress (aka my Christmas dress) that I bought a couple of weeks ago for those that are interested.

Those of you lucky enough to live in or be visiting the beautiful city of Melbourne next week be sure to stop off in Richmond and go to the
Bloom Warehouse sale! It’s times like these I really hate the fact that I live on the opposite side of the country!

The
Bloom Lip Duos are a handy tool for those like me who like to travel light. You have both your lipgloss and lipstick at the ready, and all compacted neatly into a convenient little (well, it’s quite big actually) tube. I
posted about these previously and was lucky enough to be sent 2 for review. I was sent Moon & Stars (pictured) and Rain & Puddles (not pictured, a medium plum colour). The formulation of the lipstick is just how I like it, sheer but pigmented, and one swipe leaves you with just enough colour on your lips. You can also layer the lipstick if you like a more bold/striking look. The gloss is slightly more pigmented than I normally go for, but definitely wearable even for those of you like me who prefer a subtle lip look. The lipgloss has a very subtle vanilla fragrance, which I wasn’t expecting and was a pleasant surprise. Both products (gloss and lipstick) have pretty decent longevity, but definitely did not last throughout the entire working day. I had to touch up at lunchtime, and then again before I left the office in the afternoon.
My Rating: 7/10
The Bloom Lip Duos retail for $28 AUD and are available for purchase at Myer, David Jones, the Bloom Flagship store and online via the
Bloom website or
Adore Beauty.
