Product Review: Nivea’s Invisible For Black & White Deodorant

I’ve not seen many reviews of deodorant in the blogsphere which surprises me a bit because it’s such a necessity. Especially in Australia where you can break a sweat just by breathing. Glamourous! The Nivea Invisible For Black & White deodorant is designed not to show stains on both white and black clothing (as the name would suggest), which is great for me as my wardrobe is almost exclusively black. (“I’ll stop wearing black when they invent a darker colour.”) I know that the deodorant doesn’t stain because it passed my “get changed 50 times in one morning because nothing bloody works” test last casual Friday. I pulled on and off various black blouses only to find that none of them had stained. Brilliant. It also does a good job of keeping perspiration at bay and smells fresh and clean like deodorant should. The Nivea Invisible For Black & White Deodorant retails for $4.99 AUD and is available for purchase from supermarkets and pharmacies nation wide. (note: I was sent this product for consideration for review)

Beauty Haul: Haus Of Gloi

It’s time to open the door and let Haus of Gloi into your life. I’d seen products from this brand popping up on various blogs and had always been curious about them, but every time I visited the website the products that I wanted were already sold out. Woe. Thankfully, a few weeks ago when I hopped over to Haus of Gloi to have a browse everything I wanted was in stock! I ordered: Troika Pumpkin Butter, Troika Bubbling Scrub (sample size), Vice Pumpkin Butter (sample size) and Ghost Puffs Pumpkin Butter (sample size and a Halloween special edition). I am already madly in love with this brand, and have since placed a second order for more goodies with some of the ladies at work. Enabling complete.

Product Review: L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil

I bought this shower oil by mistake a little while ago (I thought it was apple scented, I have no idea why) but I’m glad that I did because I’ve grown to love it. At first it took me a little while to adjust to the consistency of the product as I was used to using shower gels and lotions and this is a shower ‘oil’, which I had never used before. Despite being an oil it does still foam up slightly on use, but nowhere near as much as a shower gel usually does. After rinsing my skin feels soft and moisturised, and the almond scent of the oil lingers on my skin for a little while after showering. The fragrance itself is hard to define, it does in a way smell like almonds but it’s more of a fresh and tangy scent than anything too sweet. It took a while for me to get used to the fragrance (perhaps because I was so disappointed that it didn’t smell like apples?) but now I really like it. The L’Occitane Almond Shower Gel retails for $34.95 AUD and can be purchased from L’Occitane online.

Recent Beauty Haul

Pictured above are the products that I purchased before and during my trip to the wonderful city of Sydney. I’m not really sure why I purchased anything before going as the shopping in Sydney is pretty amazeballs, but I did so here we are. I managed to track down some of the old MOR Milk stock at a DFO in Homebush and was absolutely thrilled with my find. This is one of my all time favourite scents, and I am totally bummed that MOR have discontinued it. (Though according to their Twitter account, the closest scents in the current range are Honey or Candied Vanilla Almond) I also purchased the Flourish Body Milk in Saltwater, a Lanolips Lip Ointment in Sunshine, two mini Bloom soaps in Vanilla Bean and Brown Sugar & Fig and a b collection by Bloom Cheek Tint in Yarra Valley. I also picked up a MOR perfume oil in the scent Marshmallow and 3 perfume oils from Flourish in the scents Sugar, Almond Milk (a replacement) and Saltwater. And of course 3 of the b collection by Bloom nail polishes in the shades Seychelles, Santorini and Barcelona.

OPI Haul

Recently one of the Australian sale websites (either OzSale or BrandsExclusive, I can’t quite remember) had a sale on OPI nail polishes and my co-worker and I decided to shop up a storm. They had an amazing selection of colours available and I went a little bit silly. After flipping out and adding pretty much every colour to my shopping cart I ended up culling down my list to the following shades: Koala Bear-y, Bubble Bath, I’m Not Really A Waitress, Big Apple Red, Russian Navy and Lucerne-tainly Look Marvellous. And now I think I’m pretty much set for nail polishes for the rest of the year. (Until Summer comes around and I decide that I want some fluro nails, of course.)

Product Review: Botanics Of Australia Smoothing Body Scrub

I can definitely see this product becoming a firm favourite in the body product stakes this coming summer… The Botanics of Australia Smoothing Body Scrub with Desert Lime and Wattle Seed is one of the more gentle body scrubs that I’ve come across and I’ve found it really great to use on my sensitive skin. Normally when I use a body scrub my skin becomes red and inflamed (so attractive) and really rather cross but with the BOA scrub this doesn’t seem to happen at all. The grain in this scrub is quite fine, so it may not be ideal for people looking for quite a harsh and hardworking body scrub, but those of you who prefer a gentler scrub would probably like this. The scrub contains “Vitamin C to promote youthful looking skin and encourage skin cell renewal. Helps revitalise skin tissue and improve circulation, resulting in healthy, glowing skin. The Wattle seed cleanses the pores and clarifies the complexion.” The smell is quite a strong, sweet lime fragrance that reminds me of lime cordial. I like it, but it’s definitely more of a spring/summer sort of scent for me. The Botanics of Australia Smoothing Body Scrub in Desert Lime and Wattle Seed retails for $12.95 AUD but can be purchased for $7.95 from Fashion Addict online. (note: I was sent this product for consideration for review)
