I’ve made it a tradition each Christmas to put out the call to friends and family to donate any beauty products or makeup that they do not want or have never used. I then collect all of these items in boxes and donate them to a local women’s shelter. This is a really easy way to give back during the hectic time around Christmas, and I’ve been really pleasantly surprised at the response I’ve had from friends and family when asking them for help. If you choose to participate, and do this yourself there are some things that you will need to keep in mind. Women’s shelters can be quite difficult to get in contact with, for obvious reasons. Your best bet is to contact your local council or shire and asking them for advice on contacting a shelter. They should be able to give you an email address, or some form of contact for you to be able to notify the shelter of what you’re trying to do. You could also try googling for women’s shelters in your area, but keep in mind that they may not be easy to find. In regards to the products you can donate, some shelters will only accept new or unopened products, but some are happy to accept any products that were either unopened, or opened but still in good condition. I would love for other blogs to get on board with this, so please let me know if you are going to participate this year, I would love to know how you go with your collection and donation!

Keeping to the Christmas theme that I’ve been embracing lately, here is a selection of the
Kit Cosmetics limited edition Christmas range. I love the fact that this range is aimed at a warmer, Australian type Christmas rather than the “White Christmas” theme everyone else seems to embrace. Though I wouldn’t expect anything less from a proudly Australian company!
Treasured Treats To Go ($44.95 AUD) Contains four of Kit’s best selling products: Lip Sheen in Pinky Tint, Pomegranate Hand Cream, Nail Polish in Jump Start and Sunscreen.
Polished Up Nail Kit ($29.95 AUD) Contains four of Kit’s travel sized signature nail hues: Mix It, High Roller, Winner Takes and Top Gear.
Little Juicy Kit ($19.95 AUD) Contains travel sized versions of Kit’s much loved Pomegranate and Pink Grapefruit body wash and lotion.
Lush Lips And Polished Tips Kit ($24.95 AUD) Contains Kit’s Lip Sheen and Nail Polish in Fast Track for ladies who like to keep things classy.
I will definitely be hitting up Kit before Christmas to stock up on a few of these gift sets. I find them absolutely perfect for those “secret santa” presents that I often have to buy around Christmas time. This range will be available from Kit Cosmetics as of November 8 2010.

Okay, forget what I said about not buying Christmas limited edition products until November. I am officially going nuts over the new Christmas collections popping up everywhere. The
Bloom Cosmetics limited edition Christmas range looks amazing this year. All of the artwork is by illustrator Kat Macleod, and if you can’t be bothered facing the Christmas rush at the shopping centre you can order online and have the products wrapped for you! Easy as pie!

So I made a promise to myself that I would avoid purchasing anything Christmas themed until at least November 1st. But that certainly won’t stop me window shopping…! I am a sucker for Christmas themed things. So when companies like Philosophy, LUSH and Bath + Body Works bring out their limited edition Christmas range I go nuts. Most of the full Christmas range isn’t out yet, but here are a couple of products that I’ve got my eye on at the moment…
Yes, that is a homemade cookie scented candle. The genius that thought that scent up deserves a raise. And a kiss. And a cookie. I just hope that it smells as good as it sounds!

01 Mood: Lethargic! We attended our first street party last night, and it was a total blast! I got into the festive spirit and consumed way too much red wine though, and am paying for it this morning.
02 Best thing about this weekend: The weather! Summer has officially kicked in, and it’s going to be 38 degrees celcius today, and 39 tomorrow. W-a-r-m!
03 Last movie I saw: Home Alone. The perfect Christmas movie. I try to watch it every year, as one of my annual Christmas traditions.
04 What I’m watching: At the moment Mad Men is in the DVD player. I received season one as a gift for my birthday and have been watching it on and off since then. It’s such an amazing show, and is definitely living up to the hype!
05 Makeup lust: Nars Sheer Matte Foundation in Mont Blanc. A lovely lady sent me a sample of this and lo and behold it was the perfect colour match for me! I am nearly about to run out of the sample, so I will be purchasing a full size bottle soon.
06 Listening to: Bobby Helms – Jingle Bell Rock.
07 Body Product Lust: Philosophy Cinnamon Buns. I received a gift pack of the shower/shampoo/bath lotion and the body moisturiser from my ‘secret santa’ and now I smell like a delicious cinnamon bun! I can’t stop smelling myself, which is hopefully a good thing…
08 Haircare Lust: Pantene 3 Minute Miracle. These are still amazing, and even handier now that they come in single packs as well as packs of three!
09 Current obsession: Fresh fruit. I have been consuming so much of it lately I’m surprised I haven’t turned into a cherry! I love summer fruits. Strawberries, green grapes, pineapple, cherries & peaches. So yum!
10 Aim for this week: Stop eating so much chocolate!

I have decided that every year before Christmas I will take one day off of work to dedicate to Christmas present shopping and gift wrapping. I had today off, and managed to get ALL of my Christmas shopping done. Yeah, you heard me! I am all finished for this year. Now I can dedicate my time to other important things like baking and eating delicious Christmas treats, and watching cheesy movies like Home Alone and Elf. Here is a sneak peek at the goodies, all packaged nicely and sitting under the tree…
I tell you what, after an hour and a half of wrapping presents it gets a little bit tiring!
