Autumn/Winter Hair Care Essentials

evo normal persons Shampoo & Conditioner – I’ve loved every single product I’ve tried from the evo hair care range, and the ‘normal persons’ shampoo and conditioner duo is no exception. It also happens to be a new favourite of mine, and I’ve been washing my hair with it every week for a couple of months now. These products are aimed at people with normal to oily hair (bingo), are nice and lightweight, and feel like they’re gently clarifying my hair with every wash.

LUSH Big Shampoo – I tend to make more of an effort to style my hair in the cooler months of the year (mostly because it’s not as much of a living hell to use heat styling tools on my hair as it is in summer), which means I use more products. I use LUSH’s Big Shampoo once a week to help strip all the excess product from my roots. I’ve repurchased ‘Big’ three or four times now, and it’s firmly cemented it’s place as my all-time favourite clarifying shampoo.

Unico Protein Treatment – I let it go far too long between hair cuts recently, and my hair was in dire need of some hard-core conditioning. I use this once a week as a deep conditioning treatment, and also on the ends of my hair every couple of days to help keep my split ends in check. I really like this treatment because it gives a heavy-duty moisture boost without weighing down my hair.

Tresemme Heat Protectant Spray – Lets face it people. Nobody likes getting out of bed in the morning. Let alone when it’s 2 degrees and pitch black outside. The fastest way for me to ‘style’ my hair is to straighten it, which I’ve been doing a lot lately. I use this bad boy before blow drying my hair on days that I know I’m going to be straightening it afterwards.

Kerastase Nectar Thermique – This is one of my all-time favourite hair products, a ‘holy grail’ if you will. I use this every day before blow drying my hair (except for times like right now, where I’m running out and I’m too scared to finish up the tube without having a back up in my cupboard). This does such a great job of smoothing down the frizziness of my hair. I couldn’t live without it.

September Favourites

I just realised while drafting this post up that I completely forgot to write an August empties post. Oops. To be honest I’ve been sticking to a very standard routine lately, mostly because I’m on Project 100 Pan so I tend to choose one product and make an effort to use it until I finish it up. Some of my favourites for the month of September were:

Lush Sympathy For The Skin – This body lotion has shot straight up to holy grail status within the few months that I’ve owned it. It’s rich and creamy without being too heavy on the skin and I absolutely love the subtle milky scent. I highly recommend checking this out next time you’re in a LUSH store.

Burt’s Bees Honey & Shea Sugar Scrub – I’ve been trying to use up a few of my other body scrubs recently but I’m still using this (my holy grail scrub) pretty frequently. I love the smell of this scrub, it’s so sweet and it looks like it would taste really delicious.

Bloom Sheer Colour Cream in Coy – I’ve mentioned this blush in a couple of different posts over the past few weeks, including a review of the product itself. I absolutely love it and I’m so glad I finally dug this out of my collection and started using it. If you’re a fair skinned girl who wants a very subtle cheek colour, this could be just the thing for you.

Lanolips Sunshine Lip Ointment – This is another product that I feel like I’ve been mentioning a lot lately. It has been my go-to lip colour for a few months now and will probably continue to be my #1 lip product throughout the rest of the season.

evo Love Touch Shine Spray – This is another product that I reviewed recently, and I am still loving it and using it every day. It’s a great lightweight shine spray that also happens to smell like watermelon. Yum.

Product Review: evo Love Touch Shine Spray

One particular hair product that I try to always have on hand is a good quality shine spray. It’s the one styling product that I use every day because I feel like it really finishes off any style and gives my hair a more polished look. I’ve been using the evo Love Touch Shine Spray since I received it for review a few months ago and it’s now up there with my favourite shine sprays of all time. First things first, this product smells like watermelon and it’s a real treat to use in the mornings because it smells absolutely incredible. If you’re not a fan of melon scented things I wouldn’t worry too much because the smell doesn’t linger on the hair. I find that most shine sprays tend to weigh down my fine hair if I apply them directly, so the way I tend to use them is to spray 1-2 sprays into the palm of my hand, rub my hands together and then distribute the product evenly throughout my hair. Even though I’ve been applying this spray in this same manner, I’ve noticed that it seems to be more lightweight than any of the sprays I’ve tried in the past, which could make it better suited to those of you like me with fine hair. The evo Love Touch Shine Spray retails for $26.95 AUD and is available for purchase online from Adore Beauty. (note: product was sent for consideration for review)

Current Hair Wish List

Kevin.Murphy Powder Puff Do you suffer from pancake hair? I do. Watch this video by the beautiful Slavisa and see if you’re not instantly sold on this product. I saw a TV ad for the Schwarzkopf version of this which also looks quite promising and for $8.99 it’s definitely the cheaper version. I would be interested to try both out and see how they compare.

Kerastase Resistance Ciment ThermiqueI received about 10 sample packets of this in one of the Australian luxury subscription boxes last year (I can’t remember which one, sorry) and I’ve only just started to try it out. I love this stuff. I use it prior to blow drying my hair and it helps to seal the ends of my hair and make my hair soft & shiny. I will hopefully be purchasing a full sized bottle of this sometime in the future.

O&M Queenie Firm Hold HairsprayFinding a decent hairspray is the bane of my hair styling existence so I’ve got my hopes set on this pretty little number from one of my favourite hair care brands, O&M. I’m really curious to see what this smells like too, as O&M products always smell amazing.

evo Love Touch Shine SprayI am halfway through my Moroccanoil Shimmer Spray but I’ll be looking to try something different when I’m finished the bottle, and at the top of my ‘shine serums to try’ list is this product. I love everything that I’ve ever tried from the evo range, so I have high hopes for this.
