December Favourites

Bath + Body Works Twisted Peppermint Body Lotion – One of my Christmas traditions is to use this and the matching shower gel throughout the month of December. Luckily my Aunt & Uncle from the US replenished my stock this Christmas so I don’t have to worry about running out any time soon.

Maybelline Lipstick in Mango Diamonds – I’ve been wearing this lipstick paired with the Lanolips lip ointment in Sunshine and it makes for a really pretty peachy-coral lip shade. Perfect for summer.

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment – I received this mini lip treatment as a birthday gift from Sephora and I love it. It has a refreshing lemon scent, is long wearing for a lip treatment and feels super moisturising.

MAC Blush in Supercontinental – I was obsessed with this blush after seeing it on Temptalia and once I had it in my pretty little hands I started wearing it non-stop. It’s a gorgeous peachy shade and gives a really nice flush to the cheeks.

O&M Queenie – If you’re in the market for a holy grail hairspray, this is it.

Top 5 LUSH Products

Buying LUSH products was always a rare treat for me because I could never be bothered driving to the other side of Perth to go to the store, but now that LUSH has opened up in my favourite local shopping centre I am able to indulge in their goodies more often. I get really confused when I walk into a LUSH store because everything looks so appealing but I’m pretty fussy when it comes to product fragrance so thankfully I don’t get tempted to buy absolutely everything in sight. I know how hard it is to whittle down a LUSH wishlist so I thought it might be a good idea to share with you my favourite products. Add these to the very top of your shopping list:

Sympathy For The Skin“Generous banana custard body cream. Eleven years old and still as popular as ever, Sympathy for the Skin is probably the only banana custard body cream in the universe, and almost definitely the only one with real, organic mashed bananas in it. We use real bananas to make skin softer, even if they’re a bit of a menace to mash. Smooth our nutritious cream all over your body and go absolutely bananas.” This is my favourite body lotion. It’s lightweight but moisturises the skin really well and has a very subtle sweet milky scent to it.

Big Shampoo“Sea salt shampoo for shine, softness and big endowments. This pot of oceanic goodness is 50% sea salt to give limp hair the volume it deserves, with seaweed infusion to soften and fresh lime juice for shine. After using Big, your hair will be bouncing back to life.” This is my new favourite clarifying shampoo. It does a great job of cleaning all of the excess product out of my hair without stripping it and my hair feels nice and soft after I use it. I tend to use this once a week, but it’s gentle enough that it’s safe to use it more than that if I feel like I need it.

Bohemian Soap“The mind-clearing lemon one. Bohemian soap is one of our simplest and most beautiful creations; we make it for those with a creative streak to help them to realise their masterworks. Do you work late into the night, then forget to get up in the morning and miss your deadlines? The lemon oil in Bohemian serves many purposes. It clears and refreshes the mind to invigorate you. It is cleansing and toning for the skin, so it really will keep artistic types clean, even if you can’t afford a hot bath very often.” This. Smells. Amazing.

Porridge Soap“Start the day the Goldilocks way with a helping or three of porridge oats. Ideal for sensitive skin; irresistible to everyone else. Oats are soothing for the skin and will gently exfoliate, while orange juice is refreshing and naturally toning. Rise and shine with some delicious porridge.” I love this soap for the smell and how gentle it is. It’s not particularly moisturising, so if you have especially dry skin I wouldn’t suggest you try this.

Mask of Magnaminty (not pictured) – “Deep cleansing, minty face and back pack. After an overnight flight, a marathon in a rabbit suit or a walk along the Marylebone Road during rush hour, do you feel a deep need to be scrubbed clean? Here’s a cleansing mask to do exactly that; China clay and bentonite gel will pull the dirt from your pores, ground aduki beans and evening primrose seeds exfoliate surface skin cells, and peppermint oil will make you feel so fresh and minty that you’ll forget you were ever grubby.” This is one of Liv Tyler’s favourite face masks, and if that isn’t enough to make you run out and buy it I really don’t know what else to say.

Product Review: O&M Original Queenie Firm Hold Hairspray

I hate my hair. Well, I hate my hair when I make an effort to try and style it and it refuses to co-operate (which is often). I was shocked and amazed to discover that O&M Original Queenie Firm Hold Hairspray actually manages to hold a curl in my hair all day. ALL DAY GUYS. To me this is a miracle and it has completely revolutionised the way I style my hair. I have curled my hair nearly every day since discovering that this product helps me maintain a style for an entire work day. It has a similar scent to most traditional hairsprays, only not as strong and not as offensive. Queenie is a flexible-firm hold spray, which means you can spray it into your hair and then brush it through easily without your hair ending up a big frizzy crispy mess. Normally when I use a hairspray and attempt to brush it through after styling it completely ruins the look, but not this one. O&M Original Queenie Firm Hold Hairspray retails for $31.95 AUD and can be purchased online from Adore Beauty. (note: product was sent for consideration for review)

Top 5 Hair Products for Autumn/Winter

Wella Hydrate Finish – I tend to use a lot of conditioning products in the cooler months to help my hair battle against the dry winter air, and this is my favourite leave in conditioner of the moment. It’s lightweight but moisturising and I don’t feel like it leaves too much product residue in my hair. It also smells delicious.

Wella Flowing Form Smoothing Balm – I heat style my hair a lot more in the cold months of the year, and I’ve been using this in my hair prior to blow drying to help minimize frizz and to help retain any shape that I’m trying to get my hair to hold. It’s also not too heavy and doesn’t weigh down my already fine hair.

Carol’s Daughter Rosemary Mint Clarifying Shampoo/Conditioner – This is my favourite shampoo & conditioner duo at the moment. As I mentioned above, I tend to use more styling products in my hair in autumn/winter so these are perfect to use as the clarifying element helps to prevent too much product build up in my hair. Despite being sulfate free, the shampoo lathers up nicely without leaving my hair feeling too tangled, which is an added bonus.

O&M Seven Day Miracle Masque – I am absolutely loving this hair mask at the moment. I’ve been using it once or twice a week as a regular treatment in place of my normal conditioner and also every night when I condition on the ends of my hair. It smells absolutely amazing, as with all O&M hair products (yes, I realise that I mention this every single time I reference O&M products) and it leaves my hair feeling soft & silky after every use.
