Holiday Snapshots – Pemberton (Scarlet Woods Chalets)

I booked a little getaway for us as an early celebration of Sebastian’s birthday, and it was heavenly. We both felt like we’d done the Dunsborough and Margaret River region a bit to death over the last year and a half, so I decided to branch out and find somewhere new for us to stay. After doing a bit of research online, I settled on the Scarlet Woods Chalets in Pemberton. As it turns out, staying somewhere with no internet connection and nothing to do except relax is a really wonderful thing. Granted, we did get out and about on one of the days we were there, but that time was spent hiking through a forest and exploring the small town of Pemberton. Nothing fast-paced, nothing fancy. Just good old fashioned relaxation. Our days basically went like this: sleep in, enjoy pancakes and bacon on the balcony while watching the fog roll into the valley and the kangaroos practicing their boxing out on the lawn, play monopoly while eating copious amounts of cheese and drinking scotch (or red wine), grilling on the BBQ, and enjoying freezing cold nights in the hot water of the jacuzzi on the balcony. Like I said, heavenly.

This weekend past we went on a little day trip to Rottnest Island, an island just off the coast of Perth. It was my nieces birthday last week and was spending the weekend in Rottnest, so we decided to pay a visit. It was a lovely day, I hadn’t been to Rottnest since leavers (ugh), which was a looong time ago. I have a new-found admiration for Rottnest now, it’s a truly beautiful place.

As I mentioned in previous posts, my partner and I spent the last weekend down in the south west wine region. It was a lovely little break and although we didn’t do a lot of stuff, being able to relax for a few days was wonderful. Isn’t it amazing how you can go away and not set an alarm and still wake up before the sun comes up? Stupid body clock. Anyway, the weather was beautiful and we had a lovely time. Here are some snapshots from our little holiday –

Holiday Snapshots

I’m not sure if anybody noticed that I disappeared for a couple of weeks, but if you follow me on Twitter and Instagram, you’d know why. I went on a little road trip adventure across Australia, and of course I took some pictures along the way. We started in Adelaide and drove back to Perth via Port Lincoln, Ceduna, Cocklebiddy, Esperance, and Albany. It was amazing.
