Nabbing another great post idea from
Stef at The Lip Print here with my 2011 Beauty Resolutions. Now most of us attempt to make personal “New Year” resolutions and most of us (including myself) tend to let these resolutions fall by the wayside around February of each year. As the years have progressed I’ve started to make a conscious effort to set goals for myself that I believe to actually be achievable. This year my main personal resolutions are health and finance oriented (as they are most years, funny enough) but I wanted to include some beauty resolutions on the blog because I do have some changes I wish to make this year. So my resolutions are as follows:
01: Participate in Project 10 Pan at the beginning and end of the year.
02: Search for decent foundation alternatives.
03: Swatch and review my entire makeup collection.
04: Update my makeup storage system.
And I think that will do me for now! What about you? What are your beauty-oriented resolutions for the year 2011?

01: My love of fresh flowers is still going strong. These roses smelt incredible. 02: Bad attempt at capturing a bad attempt at hair/makeup inspiration. More ghostly than usual! 03: Buzz Lightyear Attack! 04: Dinosaur cupcakes at my nephew’s 4th birthday. Delicious! 05: My ever expanding collection of books to read. 06: Mr Beagle, livin large. 07: Care package sent to me from my family in the US. 01: My personalised muesli mix from muesli mixer. I’ve been eating this in the morning at work. Very yummy! 02: My favourite flowers at the moment, pretty pink tulips. 03: I have been devouring fresh fruit like crazy lately. My favourite is definitely the sweet pineapple that is in season at the moment! Strawberries aren’t quite there yet, but should be in season soon! 04: I did a bit of a bathroom cupboard/makeup cleanout and re-organised everything. I think I might need to tone down the makeup buying in the near future! 05: Nap time! 06: My current obsession is gardening. These are some rocket plants that are so far doing quite well in their pots! The trouble is I keep forgetting to cut the leaves and use them when I make salad…

I am always snapping random pictures with my iPhone (I tend to favour the application ‘shake it photo’) so I thought I might share some with you. This is just a random collection of pictures I have taken over the past few months.
01: Tollhouse cookie dough. I should really post that recipe soon…
02: The view from my office at sunrise. (yes, I get to work before the sun rises, and recently have been leaving after it’s set.)
03: I couldn’t work out what this cryptic coffee message was. Wonky love heart, or as
Lisa suggested – an upside down bum?
04: Elegant self portrait.
5: Beagle opulance.
06: Mr Beagle’s hard life of yawns.

My friend Kimberley (aka Miss Giggly from
Pop Couture) and I were recently discussing the issue of makeup and bathroom storage. For the longest time my bathroom was a disaster zone. Makeup and beauty products shoved into drawers and cupboards in disorganised array. (you should know that I absolutely hate clutter, so this was a big deal for me. stressful.) I decided that I’d had enough, and needed to do something about it. My solution?
Howard’s Storage World.
It’s a good idea to ‘think outside the box’ when it comes to bathroom storage, because a lot of the options available are just not what you’re looking for. I found my makeup storage containers in the home office section (I preferred the grey/taupe colours) and my bathroom cupboard storage containers are from the laundry section.
I keep my weekly products in a container on the bathroom cabinet (in picture #1) – everything that I’ll be using for the week goes in there. My bathroom cupboard is organised into hair care, body products, skin care & a spare container holds all of my samples/nail products. (picture #2). My makeup is organised into different catagories in two different drawers. The top drawer includes face (primer/foundation/concealer), cheeks (blush, bronzer, highlighter), lips (gloss, balm, lipstick) as in picture #3. The second drawer includes eyes (eyeshadow, liner, mascara) split into two different containers, and a seperate container for all of my brushes. (in picture #4) Speaking of which, I really need to streamline my brush collection. It’s all over the place at the moment!
eta: I should probably point out that as we have 3 bathrooms in our house, this is technically considered ‘my’ bathroom. I haven’t kicked the rest of my family out just to over run the place with my own junk!
How do you organise your bathroom? Do you have storage issues or some interesting solutions?
