"And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom."

If you’ve not already been introduced to By Terry’s range of cosmetics run, don’t walk to your nearest By Terry stockist. (FYI for those in Australia, that would be Mecca Cosmetica) The ‘Rose De Rose’ blush was the first liquid blush that I was ever exposed to, and it is absolutely beautiful. You only need a really small amount of product to give amazing colour payoff, and the blush applies smoothly and evenly without drying too quickly (which can make it hard to blend properly). I tend to apply a drop of the blush to the back of my hand, blend it out with a foundation brush and then apply it to my face. I find it a lot easier to work with like this.
Despite the heavy pigmentation, the blush blends out to be a beautiful gentle pink shade. It contains tiny shimmer particles that aren’t really obvious unless you’re standing in the sun. The staying powder is great, and the blush lasts all day on me, though I do top it up with a bit of powder blush over the top when I want it to really have some impact. One of my favourite things about this product is that it smells like roses. It’s absolutely divine. The By Terry Rose De Rose Liquid Blush retails for $110 AUD and can be purchased online (or in stores) from Mecca Cosmetica.
Glee star Lea Michele loves herself some NARS makeup. She seems to always be wearing NARS products on the red carpet, and she continued this trend at the Billboard 5th Annual Women In Music Awards. Celebrity makeup artist Fabiola used NARS products to create this look on Lea. To get the look, Fabiola used the following products: Skin Smoothing Face Prep, Bellissima Duo Eyeshadow, Coconut Grove Eyeshadow, Armour Blush, Laguna Bronzer, Little Darling Lipstick (limited edition holiday shade) & Chihuahua Lip Gloss (my personal favourite NARS lipgloss shade). NARS is available for purchase exclusively at Mecca Cosmetica within Australia. Now, when is Hollywoodland coming out?!
Mecca Cosmetica “Couture” has officially become my favourite shade of pink for summer. I was quite surprised when applying this becuase the colour in the bottle looks a lot more fuschia than it comes out on the nails. Couture is part of Mecca’s Spring Nail Collection for 2010. Mecca polishes retail for $22 AUD and can be purchased in store or online. (note: I was sent this product for consideration for review)
Admittedly I’ve never seen any of Emma Roberts’ work, nor do I know much about her more than the fact she is Julia Roberts’ neice. (did you know that? fun fact!) But I wanted to post this particular look from the recent Lanvin for H&M Launch because of the gold rimmed eyes happening here. I’ve been seeing this popping up more and more, and I LOVE IT. This is one of my favourite nighttime looks, and any time I can source new products to give me glowy golden shimmery eyes to last throughout a night out, I’m there. Celebrity makeup artist Beau Nelson created this look for Emma, using NARS products on her eyes. In particular the Rajasthan Duo Eyeshadow (limited edition) and Cyprus Eyeshadow. He highlighted her inner corners with a new product, the Hollywoodland Soft Touch Shadow Pencil. My love affair with NARS soft touch shadow pencils continue, and I will definitely be picking this one up when it’s released here! NARS is available exclusively at Mecca Cosmetica within Australia.
To celebrate the release of the new Pure Matte collection, NARS released this short film titled “Infinite Reflections” and starring model Heather Marks. “I am always inspired by cinematic references; it felt like a natural step to highlight the launch of Pure Matte Lipstick with a short film that is sexy and modern,” said François Nars, Nars Founder and Creative Director. The short film was produced by Nars’ longtime creative partner Baron & Baron and was directed by Tim Richardson. “I wanted to combine two essential qualities of Nars. One is the graphic, strong nature of the brand, and the other is the idea of iconic glamour,” said Richardson. Michal Jacaszek, a Polish electroacoustic musician, composed the score exclusively for the film. NARS in Australia is exclusive to Mecca Cosmetica.
In case you weren’t aware, I love making lists to plan and organise my life. So I am writing myself a little list of beauty products that I want to check out this spring/summer. I am also a terrible impulse buyer (something you should also know about me) so the likelyhood of me sticking to this list is not that great but what the heck I’m going to do it anyway.
Bath + Body Works Shower Gel & Body Lotion in “Pearberry” – Unsurprisingly I’m sure, I’ve already ordered this. (In fact, it was my first order through HopShopGo – the new international parcel forwarding service set up by Pay Pal!) I visited Bath + Body works while in the US and nearly had a heart attack at how exciting and cheap it all was. My favourite scent by far is the Warm Vanilla Sugar, but I’m keen to try something else – and this Pearberry scent sounds delicious and rather summery!
Givenchy Le Prisme Blush Blooming in “Blooming Fuchsias” – I’m sure I don’t need to explain this one too much – look how bright and colourful it looks! And with a name like blooming fuchscias, it seems like a perfect match for spring. Also, I am a sucker for everything that Givenchy produces – especially in their cosmetic range.
Kevin.Murphy Hair Resort” – ‘Hair Resort has compactly packed a sexy, summer holiday in a jar!’ Um, yes please! I have tried samples of this in the past and really liked it. It gives a really nice beachy wave without making hair horrible and crunchy like some products can (and do).
