Get The Look – Olivia Wilde @ Golden Globes 2011

Olivia Wilde was definitely one of the stand-out fashion moments on the Golden Globes red carpet today, and to compliment the high impact dress her makeup was kept simple and chic. Celebrity makeup artist Spencer Barnes used NARS products to create this look on Olivia, based on her own personal inspiration. “Olivia’s look was inspired by images she collected of what she refers to as ‘the French girl.’ I wanted her skin to be fresh and clean with eyes that extended outward. Touches of rose gold and sheer pink-veiled lips completed her youthful coquette-ish look,” Spencer said. The look was created using the following NARS products: Sheer Glow Foundation, Pro-Prime Multi Protect Primer with SPF (new for Spring 2011), Copacabana Illuminator (new for Spring 2011), Amour Blush, Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base, Nouveau Monde Duo Eyeshadow (new for Spring 2011), Hollywoodland Soft Touch Shadow Pencil (new for Spring 2011), Mambo Eyeliner Pencil, <a href="http://www.meccacosmetica.com.au/shop/Nars/LargerThanLifeLengtheningMascara/" target="new"<Larger Than Life Lengthening Mascara, Fantasia Lipliner Pencil, Madere Pure Matte Lipstick (new for Spring 2011) and Frivolous Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil (new for Spring 2011). NARS products are available exclusively at Mecca Cosmetica within Australia. And the world continues to mock me with the NARS Hollywoodland Soft Touch Eyeshadow Pencil being simultaneous utterly amazing and unavailable as it has not been released in Australia yet. Roll on February 2011.

Get The Look: Lea Michele

Glee star Lea Michele loves herself some NARS makeup. She seems to always be wearing NARS products on the red carpet, and she continued this trend at the Billboard 5th Annual Women In Music Awards. Celebrity makeup artist Fabiola used NARS products to create this look on Lea. To get the look, Fabiola used the following products: Skin Smoothing Face Prep, Bellissima Duo Eyeshadow, Coconut Grove Eyeshadow, Armour Blush, Laguna Bronzer, Little Darling Lipstick (limited edition holiday shade) & Chihuahua Lip Gloss (my personal favourite NARS lipgloss shade). NARS is available for purchase exclusively at Mecca Cosmetica within Australia. Now, when is Hollywoodland coming out?!

Product Review: NARS Penny Lane Cream Blush

I was recently on the hunt for a good peach toned cream blush that would work well on my fair skin. I am already an avid fan of the Stila convertible colour in the shade Gerbera, but I wanted another product to try out because I was getting a little bit tired of using the same peach blush every single day. (and I am loving peach cheeks for Spring/Summer) After extensive googling, and at the suggestion of a couple of readers I decided to purchase NARS Cream Blush in the shade Penny Lane. Unfortunately, I am not really liking it at all. (Note: It was difficult for me to get a proper swatch happening, the product was applying in a very patchy sort of way that didn’t look good at all. In the end I had to apply it with my beauty blender.)

I don’t like the colour on my skin. Instead of being a nice light peachy pink as I’d hoped, it’s a sort of muddy brown-pink that isn’t very nice at all. This would probably look good on someone with a darker skintone than me, and would possibly make for a nice neutral pink blush for some. On me it just looks kind of… blah. As I am not one of those people who will tan during summer and then be able to try this product out to see if it has a different effect, I may just have to hand this one over to my sister or sister in law who were both genetically blessed with perfect olive skin. NARS Cream Blush retails for $60 AUD and can be purchased exclusively in Australia at Mecca Cosmetica.

Get The Look: Emma Roberts

Admittedly I’ve never seen any of Emma Roberts’ work, nor do I know much about her more than the fact she is Julia Roberts’ neice. (did you know that? fun fact!) But I wanted to post this particular look from the recent Lanvin for H&M Launch because of the gold rimmed eyes happening here. I’ve been seeing this popping up more and more, and I LOVE IT. This is one of my favourite nighttime looks, and any time I can source new products to give me glowy golden shimmery eyes to last throughout a night out, I’m there. Celebrity makeup artist Beau Nelson created this look for Emma, using NARS products on her eyes. In particular the Rajasthan Duo Eyeshadow (limited edition) and Cyprus Eyeshadow. He highlighted her inner corners with a new product, the Hollywoodland Soft Touch Shadow Pencil. My love affair with NARS soft touch shadow pencils continue, and I will definitely be picking this one up when it’s released here! NARS is available exclusively at Mecca Cosmetica within Australia.

Get The Look: Hilary Duff

Ahh, Hilary. Hilary, Hilary, Hilary. You have THE most incredible complexion and perfect makeup once again. You also have a crazy looking hairdo happening here that I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt about and say that it probably looked amazing in person. Probably. Makeup artist Beau Nelson created this plum-hued eye look for Ms Duff at the recent Lucky Shops VIP Event using NARS products. He used the NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base, Lulu Eyeshadow and Brousse Duo Eyeshadow. He also the Madly Blush on the apples of her cheeks, and thanks to the above picture I now NEED IT IN MY LIFE NOW. Santa, I hope you’re reading this and happen to stop by Mecca Cosmetica to pick me up a few NARS goodies before Christmas.

Get The Look: NARS @ Marc Jacobs SS11

NARS has been a very busy brand this NY Fashion Week! They popped up once again, this time creating 70′s inspired dramatic looks at Marc Jacobs. The lead artist was NARS’ own founder and creative director François Nars. “The look is very reminiscent of Angelica Houston in the 70s-the bleached brows and the deep eyes,” said François Nars. “I wanted them to look like iconic models from the 70s with a modern approach. Marc had images of what he wanted the makeup to look like – mimicking the colors of the clothing but not matching exactly.” You can recreate the look yourself using the following key products: Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer (This is new for 2011 – ie: not available to us plebs just yet, though I feel like I need it now(!) – in the meantime try a light application of Nars Sheer Glow Foundation), Orgasm Blush, Night Porter Eyeshadow, Nouveau Monde Duo Eyeshadow, Celebrate Soft Touch Shadow Pencil, Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara, Volga Pure Matte Lipstick, African Queen Lip Liner Pencil, & the Mambo Eyeliner Pencil. NARS is exclusive to Mecca Cosmetica in Australia.
