Despite it still being freezing cold in Australia, and winter still well and truly in place, I have already started to think about my Spring/Summer wardrobe. So I figured it might be a good idea to round up my A/W wardrobe list and begin working on S/S for 2010. (I find it’s good to get a head start to take advantage of the international online end of season sales…) I didn’t manage to buy everything that I had wanted to stock up my basic wardrobe for this season, but I definitely have less to buy last year – and am one step closer to the 4-5 French Wardrobe way of life. Here is my finalised list, with the items in italics yet to be purchased:

May was a quiet month as far as wardrobe organisation goes. I only ended up purchasing 2 new things for my wardrobe, and only one of those items was on my wishlist. Oops. Luckily the second item was quite cute and I will get a lot of wear out of it. I bought the
Silence & Noise All Over Studded Tank in black, (which is now on sale, of course) and the
Heavy Rotation Animal Print Raglan in navy bear. The raglan wasn’t on my list but I really like bears. So yeah, try and take that foolproof reasoning away from me – I dare you. Here is my updated wardrobe list:
Tops
** sheer black / print / floral blouses (x2)
* black cashmere v-neck sweater
** black cashmere cardigan (x2)
silence and noice black studded silk tank
black silk/jersey tee

* radarte hooded sweater
bear print raglan sweater
Bottoms
** black pencil skirts (will need to purchase 2 new skirts for work)

black cigarette style pants
* dark denim jeans (need to purchase 1 more pair)

The Rodarte/Radarte is not back in stock yet, and I get the feeling it won’t be coming back into stock anytime soon. I am quite sad about this, but thinking positive and hoping for the best. I probably won’t be adding anything new to my wardrobe next pay, possibly the pay after that. My outlook at the moment is all about fiscal responsibility so if it’s not something I really “need” or can fit inside my shopping budget for the fortnight, I am avoiding it at all costs. Considering the fact that the next piece I will be buying will be made of cashmere, I’m doubting I’ll be able to fit that into my $150 shopping budget per fortnight. Time will tell…

I am going to try and check in once a month and post about how I am going with my Autumn/Winter Wardrobe updates. I’ve gone through my wardrobe once again and added some pieces for this season that I had previously left off of my list. Here is the updated version:
Tops
** sheer black / print / floral blouses (x2)
* black cashmere v-neck sweater
** black cashmere cardigan (x2)
* black studded silk tank
black silk/jersey tee
elizabeth and james black satin blouse
black asos chain neck sweater
black/white plaid top
illustrated people love/hate raglan sweater
* radarte hooded sweater
Bottoms
** black pencil skirts (will need to purchase 2 new skirts for work)
black pencil skirt
black cigarette style pants
* dark denim jeans (need to purchase 1 more pair)
dark denim straight leg jeans (x2)
Dresses
asos dark purple/floral print dress
basque dark green/black peacock print dress
black/grey polka dot print babydoll dress
ann taylor black dress w. rosette shoulders
sussan black draped jersey/lace dress
see by chloe grey sweater dress
black jersey/satin tiered skirt dress
Outerwear
black long length blazer
* black leather jacket
black tie-waist trench
Accessories
cashmere tube scarf
warehouse lace scarf in mink (ordered)
house of harlow peacock ring
* oversized ray ban wayfarers
oversized black handbag
3.1 phillip lim black patent clutch
vintage peacock clutch
* oversized black leather clutch
mimco black embellished hair piece
diamond stud earrings
tiffany & co initial necklace
* black pearl earrings
asos black enamel panther cuff bracelet (ordered)
portmans silver/black small clutch
Shoes

country road black leather ballet flats
black patent ankle boots
wittner flat black leather boots
wittner black patent pointed flats
chanel burgundy round toe heels
wittner peep toe motorcycle/wedge boots
black hightop converse sneakers
The items in italics and marked with an asterix are the pieces that I am still needing to buy for this season. I feel like I’m doing really well this season, I haven’t been impulse buying things that I don’t really need or want – which is what I normally do. It feels so much better having a plan for what I need to get, and I’m happy to say that I can wear everything in my closet right now, and I love every piece! One thing that is bumming me out is that because I am budgeting, I can no long impulse buy the pieces that I do find that I love and would fit into this wardrobe plan. So I’ve missed out on a few things that I’ve fallen in love with that have sold out in the meantime. (I have left the Rodarte radarte sweater on my list in the hope that it comes back in stock sometime soon!)

April 4, 2010
Now that I am more focused on purchasing items for my Autumn/Winter wardrobe I have decided to go through and do a little update at the beginning of every month, to check off items that I have bought, and post some possible suggestions for things I might buy next. I had a little browse through my wardrobe and found some pieces that I had initially forgotten to mention in my
A/W wardrobe list the first time around. Here is the updated version:
Tops
** sheer black / print / floral blouses (will look to buy 2 new blouses this season)
* black cashmere v-neck sweater
** black cashmere cardigan (x2)
* black studded silk tank
black silk/jersey tee
elizabeth and james black satin blouse
* black asos chain neck sweater (ordered)
black/white plaid top
Bottoms
** black pencil skirts (will need to purchase 2 new skirts for work)
black cigarette style pants
** dark denim jeans (will need 1-2 new pairs)
Dresses
asos dark purple/floral print dress
basque dark green/black peacock print dress
black/grey polka dot print babydoll dress
ann taylor black dress w. rosette shoulders
see by chloe grey sweater dress
sussan black draped jersey/lace dress
Outerwear
* black long length blazer
* black leather jacket
black tie-waist trench
Accessories
* cashmere tube scarf
* warehouse lace scarf in mink (ordered)
house of harlow peacock ring
* oversized ray ban wayfarers
* oversized black leather handbag
3.1 phillip lim black patent clutch
vintage peacock clutch
* oversized black leather clutch
mimco black embellished hair piece
diamond stud earrings
tiffany & co initial necklace
* black pearl earrings
* asos black enamel panther cuff bracelet (ordered)
Shoes
* lanvin black leather ballet flats
country road black leather ballet flats
black patent ankle boots
wittner flat black leather boots
wittner black patent pointed flats
chanel burgundy round toe heels
wittner peep toe motorcycle/wedge boots
I have narrowed down my first five purchases (based on what I will need and be wearing most often compared to what I already have in my wardrobe) to the following items:
> black pencil skirt
> dark denim straight leg jeans
> black cashmere cardigan
> black long length blazer
> oversized leather handbag
If anybody knows of a good place to get simple cashmere cardigans from, please let me know! I found one on Shopbop but it had big pearl buttons, and I don’t really like that sort of style. I am also on the hunt for an oversized leather handbag. I’m thinking that I might spare some cash this season and just opt for a high street brand rather than designer. I’m not 100% sure on that though, it depends on if I see any bags that I fall in love with along the way… The other items on this first purchase list will be bought in store. Jeans, skirts and blazers all have to fit to perfection IMO, and you can’t always guarantee that with an online purchase…

September 8, 2009
It’s that time of year again! It’s now
officially spring in Australia, and it’s time to clean things out and get ready for the new season. I spent most of last night cleaning out my wardrobe, and digging through the items I had put away at the beginning of winter this year. Now for some reason, at the start of every new season I am always inspired by a minimalist wardrobe – I only want a certain number of items that I can mix and match to make a few different outfits. But somehow at the end of every season I end up with a wardrobe bulging with items that still have the tags on them, and that don’t really suit the feel of what I was wearing that season anyway! So once again I am inspired by minimalism, and I’m going to try and keep this post in mind when I shop for things for my wardrobe… I don’t want to end up at the end of summer with a whole bunch of clothing that I’m never going to wear!
So I’ve drawn up a list of pieces that I think I want to work with this season, I have about 50% of them already in my closet, and I’m now on the hunt for…
peep toe flats (suitable for both work/casual)
peep toe wedges (in a nude shade)
flat sandals (in a brown/tan shade)
2 x pencil skirts (in shades other than black)
5 x sheer blouses (in light shades)
3 x lightweight cardigans (again in light shades)
above the knee shorts (preferably black)
leather bag (in a shade other than black – preferably nude)
One other thing I’ll be keeping in mind is a quote that I read last night. “The most beautiful colour in the whole world is the one that looks good on you” I have been favouring nude shades for this season, but it’s going to be important for me to find the RIGHT shades to suit my fair skin. It can either look lovely, or I could look like a walking corpse! So hopefully I pick the right ones…
