I was planning on doing a feature on my earring collection (as requested by Claire), but taking into consideration the fact that I threw even more money at ASOS and Shopbop over the past week or so I figured I might as well share my purchases with the world.
(In my defense, every single item I purchased was on sale…) I had been looking for a nice pair of wedge heeled closed toe ankle boots for a while, so when I saw the above pair on ASOS I couldn’t resist. I also had the leopard print scarf saved in my to-buy folder on my bookmarks and lo and behold when I searched for it, it was on sale. Bonus. The top I was up in the air about, but I thought it would be nice & easy to throw on over jeans with flats to wear to the movies or something like that. So into the basket it went. I also broke all of my wardrobe shopping rules and impulse bought some jeggings (don’t judge me) despite them being the absolute wrong style of jeans for my body type. I had to buy something to push me over the $100 mark to qualify for free international shipping, so I also ordered this baggy jumper to wear over the jeggings to save the world the sight of me in jean style leggings.
I had been recently eyeing off a few pieces at ASOS
, so come pay day I decided to donate a large chunk of my salary to the cause and buy the clothes I had been lusting after. Of course, as soon as I went to add these particular pieces to my cart I noticed that the majority of them had sold out. Brilliant. Choosing to ignore this sign from the cosmos that perhaps I should be saving my pennies, I headed over to Country Road
online and ordered some shoes instead. These are the three items that I ended up buying –
I don’t know how many pairs of black leather ballet flats I have gone through in my lifetime, but I know I get my monies worth because I literally wear them until they fall to pieces. As I’ve mentioned previously, the Country Road ballet flats are my favourites (trumped only by Lanvin ballet flats, which at close to $800 a pop are more a ‘special occasion’ shoe than anything else. or a pipe dream. let’s go with special occasion shoe.) and I wear them to work practically every day of the week.
I currently have an obsession with tracking down unique pieces of jewelry on ebay and etsy (my latest purchase being this beautiful necklace
) and my collection of bangles and bracelets seems to be expanding the most. Here is a selection of my favourite bangles from my current collection…
01: I found this bangle after one of my obsessive late night coffee fueled ‘peacock’ search-fests of the Etsy vintage section. (God that makes me sound like a crazy person.) This beautiful thing comes from India and although it’s not as sparkly as I’d hoped, it’s still an amazing piece. 02: This was a cheap and cheerful purchase from Forever 21, and actually came in a set with some other gold bangles. This was the standout of the bunch, and although the picture doesn’t capture it, the stones hit the light beautifully and this bangle really sparkles in the sun.
03: This little guy was an impulse purchase from ASOS during autumn/winter last year. I still love him and he looks amazing with an all-black ensemble. (and yes, I’ve decided this bangle is a ‘he’) The picture doesn’t show, but the eyes are little green gems that sparkle under lights and look amazing. 04: This bangle was a gift from my grandmother, who bought it for me after I complimented the one she was wearing. It has a magnetic core that is supposed to help promote internal balance & relaxation.
This beautiful jade bangle was a gift to me from my best friend after her travels through China. It has the most gorgeous workings of pink through the dark green jade. I love it. 06:
I bought this pure rose quartz bangle from a market stall in Chinatown in Singapore during my trip there a couple of years back. I don’t really wear it as often as I should, as it’s really gorgeous and the pink looks great against my fair skin.
The next bracelet that will be joining my collection is this little spooky yet beautiful evil eye number from Etsy. I can’t wait to receive it, I am in dire need of some good karma and bad energy repellent!
This week’s Wardrobe Wednesday is dedicated to a fictional television character that I am gaining a wealth of inspiration from. This character happens to be Emma Pillsbury, the guidance counsellor on Glee. Everytime she would come onto the screen I would die a little bit inside from jealousy. Not just because of her on-screen chemistry with the adorable Mr Schue, but because of her her enviable wardrobe.
I need me some twin sets and adorable jewelry asap. I am not the only one with an admiration for Emma’s wardrobe, there is a site dedicated to it called What Would Emma Pillsbury Wear?
and I spent way
too much time browsing through it last night (while shopping online for Mary Jane pumps, twin sets and J Crew accessories). Now excuse me while I go and browse Etsy for some vintage sweater pins…
