What We’re Watching – Spring 2015

I have a bit more free time now that I’m on holidays, and with that comes more opportunity to watch television. Now that we have Netflix I’m making the most of it and am starting to watch some shows that I’d been putting off watching for a while. Here’s what I’ve been getting stuck into lately –

The Mindy Project – Mindy is back! I was so worried at the end of last season, because it was announced that the show had been cancelled. Thankfully Hulu picked it up for another season, so Mindy is back in my life. I really love this show, it’s one of the only shows on TV at the moment that can make me laugh out loud.

The Walking Dead – I stopped watching this halfway through season four, and had never bothered to pick it back up again (mostly because Sebastian and I had both lost interest). He’s away for work at the moment and I was feeling in the mood for something gritty so I decided to pick up where I left off. This was apparently a good idea, because I managed to marathon-watch one and a half seasons over the course of a few days and I’m well and truly obsessed again. This seems to be the kind of show I prefer to watch when I binge watch it, so I might have to wait until season six has aired in it’s entirety before I start on it. I’ll see how I go.

Friday Night Lights – I watched Varsity Blues recently, and it put me in the mood to watch this show. I’d actually bought this series on DVD a few years ago but never got around to watching it. And of course now we don’t even have a DVD player so that was a bit of a waste, but thankfully it’s available to watch on Netflix. I’m making my way through season one, and I’m loving the whole “small town drama” vibe of the show.

Revenge – I remember one of my girlfriends recommending this to me a little while ago, but I hadn’t made the time to start watching it until recently. I love love love the Hamptons setting of the show, and the storyline is definitely enough to keep me watching. I’m also loving the main character’s wardrobe – definitely some inspiration happening for me there.

What We’re Watching – Winter 2015

The Simpsons – We recently finished up with ‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’, and this has become our new go-to short episode comedy show. We’re not really following any sort of pattern with episodes we’ve been watching, we just pick whichever episode tickles our fancy. Though this has been mostly episodes in seasons up until around season 10. Because early Simpsons is the best Simpsons. Obviously.

Mad Men – We’re slowly making our way through the entire series of Mad Men, and we’re currently at the beginning of Season 5. The show hasn’t dulled as the seasons have rolled on (although I’m bored to death of Betty Draper’s storyline), and we’re still excited to watch new episodes. I think we’ll miss this when we finally finish it up, but I’m glad we have the entire show to watch and don’t have to wait from week to week like people who got in early did. The benefits of being slow, I guess?

The X Files – I suggested to Sebastian that we re-watch The X Files in anticipation of the reboot next year and at first he wasn’t 100% keen but now he’s on board and it’s full steam ahead. We’re still on season one (one of the worst seasons, IMO), but we’re progressing steadily. This is one of my all-time favourite TV series, and the chemistry between Mulder and Scully will never die. Best TV couple in history, guys. The very best.

Orange Is The New Black – We got stuck back into this as soon as season three started up. So far it doesn’t seem to be as exciting as the previous couple of years (at least not right off the bat), but we’ll see how it develops as the season wears on.

Keeping Up With The Kardashians – This post is titled ‘what we’re watching’, but this one is mostly just me. Sebastian will only watch this if I force him to, which of course I don’t do because I’m not that cruel. Any time that I have free to watch TV on my own (usually only when Sebastian’ travels for work) is spent watching The Kardashians. It’s a ridiculous show, but I love it.

What We’re Watching – Autumn 2015

I love television. Always have, and probably always will. I’ve been lucky in life to find a partner who enjoys watching TV as much as I do, and thankfully we have very similar tastes in what we want to watch. Here’s what we’re watching at the moment:

Seinfeld – This is our go-to “short episode” show to watch. We’ve managed to make our way through the entire series, and are close to the end of season nine. I don’t want it to end! This show stands up to the test of time, and is just as funny today as it was when it first aired on TV.

Better Call Saul – Sebastian and I were both huge fans of Breaking Bad, so it was a no-brainer that we’d be tuning in for Better Call Saul. I found it quite slow to start (I felt the same way about Breaking Bad, tbh), but it’s picking up the pace and by mid-way through the first season it’s captured my interest.

Daredevil – Practically everyone on twitter was raving about this show when it was first released, so we decided to give it a go. The first episode was enough to draw us in, and we’re both really enjoying it. I don’t know much about the comic book origins, but the plot has been easy to follow without knowing any of the backstory.

The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt – How could we not watch this show? We’re both huge Tina Fey fans, we watched the entirety of The Office US and 30 Rock together and we love Ellie Kemper and Jane Krakowski’s work. This has taken a little while for me to warm up to, but it’s getting there.

Game of Thrones – Game of Thrones recently returned for another season, and OBVIOUSLY we’re tuning in. Now that My Kitchen Rules has finished for the year, Monday night can return to it’s official title of Game Of Thrones Night!

What’s your favourite TV show at the moment?
