Tuesday Tunes – 4 Great Albums (90’s)

The pressure was on for this week’s Tuesday Tunes post. Not only do I have the 90’s loving influence of my sister hovering over my head, but damn were there a lot of good albums released in the 90’s. Narrowing my selection down to four was difficult, so I asked my sister Shannon to send through her suggestions for the top 4 albums of the 90’s to be included alongside mine. So here we go, we’ll start with my top four album choices:

My sister’s initial response to my question regarding her top four albums from the 90’s was “How can I possibly choose 4???” She obviously had a hard time narrowing it down (like me), as her list included the following: 1st. Without question…. Pearl Jam: Ten 2nd. Tool: Aenima 3rd. Pearl Jam: Vs 1993 EQUAL 4th… Alice in Chains: MTV unplugged, Smashing Pumpkins: Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, Radiohead: OK Computer, Soundgarden: Superunknown, Nirvana: Nevermind, Pearl Jam: Vitalogy, Stone Temple Pilots: Core, Alex Lloyd: Black The Sun, Nine Inch Nails: The Downward Spiral & Hole: Celebrity Skin. Quite an extensive list, and yes as you may have guessed she is a big Pearl Jam fan. Though I have to admit that I’m surprised neither of us included Alanis Morissette in our list… I still know pretty much every single word of every single song on her Jagged Little Pill album. What are your thoughts on the music of the 90’s? Did you become a fan of the grunge era back when it was something interesting and new and not the revamped style version sported by teenagers wearing doc martens and babydoll dresses these days?

Oh my gosh all those albums you listed, as I read them, I kept nodding my head in agreement! I was all over grunge like white on rice as a young teen – and still a massive fan of pretty much all those albums! Recently I have played both Frogstomp and The Best of Nirvana – I know it’s not Nevermind but I have only downloaded one Nirvana album onto my Iphone and decided to go with the one that had most of my fave songs!

Oh and Alanis wise – this will test you – do you remember that song at the very end of the CD after several mins of silence?! I LOOOVED that and can still remember the words in my head – not that I’ve heard it in 10 years or more! πŸ™‚

    • YES! It was called Uninvited. It was such a beautiful song… I think I still know all of the words too…

  2. Aaaaaah Pearl Jam!! I haven’t pulled that one out in aaaaages. Love it. Yeah, Smashing Pumpkins would be in there for me too!
