Hair @ NYFW – Jeremy Scott

More New York Fashion Week goodness, this time with ‘Barbie Goes Country’ hair madness at Jeremy Scott. Wella Professionals were on board to do the hair styling for the show, and Eugene Souleiman (Global Creative Director, Wella Professionals) had this to say: “I wanted to have fun with the hair and create caricatures as an extension of the girls’ personalities. The collection had a ‘Wild West’ theme featuring cactus and pony-skin prints, but in true Jeremy Scott style, he used lots of bright color and brought a sense of fun and energy to the clothes, and I wanted to do the same with the hair. So we started with a very fresh and pretty, cowgirl look with pigtails in ringlets, but then created a ‘50s style ultra high glamorous bouffant wave on the top of the head. The contrast of the young pigtails against the sophisticated top section created a sense of drama and surprise.” Feeling a bit ‘wild wild west? Get the look yourself –

01) Start with freshly washed and conditioned hair using Wella Professionals Enrich Shampoo and Conditioner.

02) Prep wet hair with Perfect Setting Blow-Dry Lotion, and blow dry to create a smooth texture. Tong the hair using a wide barrelled hair tong and clip each curl and leave to set.

03) Once the hair has cooled, keep the top section (about 6 curls) pinned on top of the head, and create two sections (parted at the back of the head) in the bottom section. Take each section at a time and gently back comb right at the roots to create a little volume, then fasten in to a low ponytail with elastic and twist the curl into a defined ringlet. Spray with Wella Professionals Super Set Finishing Spray to keep the ringlet in place.

04) Release the top section and back comb each piece to half the length of the hair using as fine toothed comb, the hair should stand up on its own and provide a structure for the ‘bouffant’.

05) Smooth the hair in to one section using a soft bristle brushed, sprayed with Wella Professionals Super Set Finishing Spray, and twist in to a high side flip. Spray with Wella Professionals Super Set Finishing Spray to hold the style.

Product Review: b collection by Bloom Cheek Tint in Yarra Valley

During my recent trip to Sydney, I stumbled across the b collection by Bloom counter at Target. I’d heard about this collection but had never had the chance to play around with it in person so I was pretty excited to find the counter (though slightly disappointed that there weren’t many products left on the shelf). As always, I went straight to the blush and immediately reached for the gorgeous peach-pink shade Yarra Valley. I then spent about 5 minutes trying to figure how to operate the packaging. Once I had wrestled it open I fell in love with the formulation of the blush, and the colour.

The formulation is very similar to the new MAC Cremeblend blushes in that the blush applies quite sheer, but is easily buildable. The colour is absolutely gorgeous and looks very natural on fair skin (I built the colour up quite a bit in the above swatch). I’m not sure how well it would show on a darker skin tone, but as it’s buildable I’m sure it could be easily layered show more colour. I am loving this blush and guessing that it will be getting a lot of wear this spring. The b collection by Bloom Cheek Tint in Yarra Valley retails for $19.95 AUD and can be purchased from Target Australia.
