Shop My Stash: August

ModelCo Lip Gloss in Striptease: This lip gloss came in a Lust Have It box earlier this year, and it’s probably one of the best things to ever come out of my subscription, to be honest. I’ve been wearing this on it’s own and also layered over the Lanolips lip ointment just to give a glossier finish.

b Collection by Bloom Cheek Tint in Yarra Valley: I don’t often wear a peachy/coral cheek look in the cooler months of the year, to me it’s more of a Summer thing but for some reason I dug this blush out of my collection and I just can’t seem to get enough of it. This is one of my all time favourite blush colours, it’s super flattering on fair skin plus the formulation of the b Collection cheek tints is really lovely and super easy to work with.

Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Intense Black: I really love the look of black winged liquid eyeliner but I hate that when I attempt to apply it to my eyes at 6 o’clock in the morning it usually ends in disaster. When I do manage to get this working for me I really like it and I find that the Stila liquid eyeliner lasts well compared to others I’ve tried.

Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso: I’ve been wearing this over the top of the Yarra Valley cheek tint to help make it last throughout the work day. I love this blush and I wore it nearly every day during summer last year. Pretty.

Lanolips Lip Ointment in Sunshine: I feel like everything I opted to pull out of my stash this month is revolving around the b Collection cheek tint because I also chose this lip colour to compliment the shade of the blush. This is one of my favourite lip colours, and it will forever remind me of Sydney because I’ve worn it ever time I’ve been there on holiday. It’s a really pretty orange colour that sheers out to a peachy sort of tint on the lips.

What I Bought: August

As a pre-emptive budget blowing measure, I’m setting aside a certain allowance for each fortnight that I’m allowed to spend on myself. I’m a realist, and this money is a buffer to stop me from going crazy and dropping a lump sum on a whole bunch of stuff I don’t need just to get a shopping fix. The whole monitoring a super-strict budget thing seems to be working already because I hesitated and agonised over spending my allowance this month. But in the end I managed to part with my money, and this is what I’ve purchased since starting my super-strict budget plan in mid-August –

Alchemic Muse Pineapple Milk Body Lotion – I need body lotion like I need another elbow, but I’ve had this on my wishlist for Spring ever since laying eyes on it while placing my Winter haul at Alchemic Muse a couple of months ago. I mean, it’s pineapple milk scented. Do I really need to justify this?

Alchemic Muse Pineapple Milk Foaming Body Scrub – See above. PINEAPPLE MILK.

Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Powder in Lush Nectarine – I have turned into a bit of a Michele1218 fangirl (read: style stalker), and bookmarked this blush as soon as she mentioned it in one of her summer haul videos. I may or may not have been sucked in by the shade name lush nectarine. Yum.

Beauty Blender Double Sponge Set – My current beauty blender is about to fall off the perch, so I was in the market for a new one and I noticed that the double pack on K&MU NY is only $5 more than a single beauty blender. Bargain.

Geeniejay Neon Pink Geometric Post Earrings – One of the three things I had on my wishlist for my Spring wardrobe this year was a pair of neon pink studs, and when I saw these pinned on Pinterest I knew I had to have them.

Life Project: To Build A Home

This will be the first in an extended series of posts that will (hopefully) be appearing on the blog over the course of the next year or so. It’s time for me to embark on a rather large project: building a home. As you can imagine this process is pretty daunting, especially considering the fact that I’ve never done it before. Having said that, I know that can do it and I am really excited to see where the process takes me. So far it’s been a lot of running around, appointment attending, contract signing and handing over a fair amount of money to get myself started. The next month or so will probably entail similar sort of things, and then the fun part begins when I get to start choosing the specific fittings that I want for the home.

I put the question out on Twitter a couple of weeks ago as to whether or not people would be interested in seeing posts on this process, and the resounding answer was yes. I don’t really have much to say about the whole thing just yet as I’ve only just committed myself to it, but if you have any questions or specific post requests please let me know!

Product Review: LUSH Sympathy For The Skin Body Lotion

I’ve been searching for what feels like forever for a moisturising body lotion that has a neutral but sweet fragrance that isn’t too overpowering. Guess what kids? I’ve found it. I had no intention of buying a body lotion when I went into LUSH a couple of weekends ago, but I’m glad that I picked this up because this baby is on the fast track to holy grail status. The smell is hard for me to describe because it’s so subtle, but it hints at vanilla and banana (the banana makes sense, as the product contains real mashed banana – yum). This is pretty much exactly what I was looking for in a body lotion, something with a very light but sweet milky scent that doesn’t overpower my perfume and a moisturiser that is lightweight but also feels hydrating. I love this lotion and would highly recommend you pick it up next time you’re at a LUSH store. The Sympathy For The Skin body lotion retails for 29.95 AUD and can be purchased from LUSH stores throughout Australia.

Container Store Haul

If we had the Container Store in Australia I would probably live there. We have our own versions of the store of course, but the majority of them charge exorbitant amounts of money for things that I honestly don’t think should cost so much. But that is a whole different post, and one I will probably never bother to write (cue collective sign of relief). I placed the order using parcel forwarding service Hop Shop Go, and I’m going to have to make the most of this stuff because the shipping cost was so high that I’ll never be ordering from the Container Store again. Woe. I ordered a few bits and pieces, mostly things to help me organise my life (vinyl document holders to keep different types of paperwork together for projects I’m working on, manila folders for storing bills/press releases, receipt file to help me keep track of things I purchase for my new house, paper flags to use in my Lilly Pulitzer planner and weekly to-do post it notes), and a few travel-friendly things for my trip later this year. Mmm, organisation.
