Thoughts of the week…

01) I’ve been making Adam Liaw’s taco rice quite a lot lately. I tweak the recipe slightly, and serve it with an accompanying Spanish rice dish, so let me know if you’d like to see the recipe on the blog at some stage in the near future.

02) I find it hard to find tight workout pants in a material that I don’t feel naked in. Enter the GapFit GFast Capris. I highly recommend these, and they’re made of some mighty sturdy fabric. If you’re in the market for some new gym pants, be sure to check these out.

03) Penguins chasing a butterfly. I mean, really.

04) I told you guys Ben was excited for Christmas…

05) Kanye West released the video for his song Bound2 a little while ago, and as most of the world probably knows by now: James Franco and Seth Rogan did it better.

06) Wrecking Ball (ChatRoulette Version)

07) Did you guys know that Bonne Maman Caramel Spread was a thing? This is going to make my life SO much easier. Much love to Merowyn from BlithelyUnaware for making me aware of this.

08) Speaking of which, I think I might be making this chocolate salted caramel tart for Christmas Day. It’s only right to do, like, 10-15 trial runs of the recipe… right?

Product Review: Arbonne Cream Concealer in Light

I’m sure many of my fellow pale-faced ladies would agree, finding a concealer to match a fair skintone can be a real pain in the butt. I use concealer for two things: to hide the genetic dark circles under my eyes, and to cover up any redness around my nose and chin. I get the occasional blemish, but it’s not something I deal with too often so I don’t really take that factor into consideration when looking for a concealer. I’ve been trying out the Arbonne cream concealer for a few weeks now, and it’s become an essential part of my daily makeup routine. It’s a slightly darker shade than I would normally opt for, but it works wonders to cover the dark circles under my eyes. It blends easily into my skin and stays put throughout the day. I also find all of the Arbonne packaging really attractive looking: bonus. The Arbonne Cream Concealer in Light retails for $33 AUD and is available for purchase from the Arbonne website (note: this product was sent for consideration for review).

5 Makeup Product FOTD Tag

The beautiful Jenny from My Funny Valentine invited me to participate in the 5 Makeup Product FOTD Tag, so here we go! The challenge is to pick 5 products to create a ‘face of the day’. It’s amazing how many products it takes to achieve a ‘natural’ makeup look, but I tend to wear less makeup on the weekend so I decided to showcase a fairly typical Saturday look for this challenge.

01) Givenchy Photo Perfexion in Perfect Ivory – This is my holy grail foundation. If you’re extremely pale like me, it’s likely that your number one requirement for foundation is a decent colour match. This often means that all other factors fall by the wayside, but lucky for me I’ve managed to find a foundation that ticks ALL the boxes. I used this on my face and up across my eyelid to even everything out and give the illusion of eyeshadow.

02) Stila Convertible Colour Blush in Lillium – I’ve been leaning more towards more natural looking blushes lately, and steering clear of the bright pinks that I used to reach for. Lillium is a neutral pink shade that looks like a natural flush on my cheeks. This is the perfect no-fuss cream blush.

03) Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Eye Liner – I rarely wear liquid eyeliner, but when I do I tend to get on a roll and wear it for a few days at a time. I love the Maybelline Master Precise liner because it helps create a very fluid looking line. It’s foolproof for hamfisted folk such as myself.

04) Lancome Hypnose Mascara – This is my all time favourite mascara. This is the perfect mascara. The ultimate. It lengthens and thickens my lashes, and doesn’t transfer to my eyelid (which is something I constantly struggle with when it comes to mascara). It also stays put all day and doesn’t flake underneath the eyes at all.

05) Hourglass Extreme Sheen Lip Gloss in Truth – My new favourite lipgloss. I have naturally dark lips, and this is a perfect colour match for them. This could quite easily turn into my ultimate ‘your lips but better’ product.

Thoughts of the week…

01) Netflix is bringing back The Killing for a final season. GOD BLESS YOU, NETFLIX.

02) This wasn’t as funny as I’d expected it to be, but still, a fun watch for Breaking Bad fans. A word of warning: this will contain spoilers for those not completely up to date with the show.

03) Umm, so, Powder Perfect have a Home Alone themed Christmas nail polish collection.

04) Ben says hello. He is excited for Christmas. Hopefully he doesn’t repeat his efforts from last year, when he tore open all the presents under the tree while we were out for Christmas Eve dinner. We still can’t find a Bunnings voucher that he ate/hid/buried somewhere.

05) Priceline had 40% off of all cosmetics during the week and I slipped, ever so slightly. I’m now obsessed with the L’Oreal Chrome Shine eyeshadows. I bought the shade ‘midnight stars’ and regret not grabbing the champagne colour at the same time, because this is the most beautiful shimmery eye shadow I’ve ever seen. Like sparkling diamonds on my eyelid.

06) Speaking of makeup products that I’m in love with, the Hourglass Extreme Sheen lip glosses are beautiful. I ordered the shades ‘child’ and ‘truth’ during the Sephora VIB 20% off sale, and I’m in love with them both. The shades are gorgeous, the lasting power is great and they have a lovely texture.

07) John Mayer did a question & answer session with fans on his Tumblr, and it was wonderful. (via The Mustard Jumper)

08) This could easily be the all-time best way to advertise a couch.

09) The 90s Button.

10) If you ever have the opportunity to build your own home, I suggest going for it BUT prepare to experience stressful periods of time throughout the process. I came close to pulling all my hair out this week, due to circumstances beyond my control. Urghhh. It’ll all be over soon.

Product Review: Jurlique Chamomile Soothing Mist

Summer is creeping in like the hateful little goblin that it is, and I’m starting to think about my warm weather skin care arsenal. The most obvious necessity is sunscreen, but a soothing facial mist comes in at a close second for me. With this in mind, I headed to the Jurlique counter with the intention of picking up one of their rose facial mists as a little treat for myself. I saw this little beauty sitting on the shelf and was curious about it, so I tried it out on my face. Guys, this face mist smells like froot loops. Froot loops. I could probably end this review there, because what else do you really need to know? Aside from that amazing element, this mist is lovely and is probably the most soothing face mist I’ve ever tried. It’s light and refreshing, and the chamomile really seems to help settle my skin. The Jurlique Chamomile Soothing Mist retails for $35 AUD and can be purchased online from Adore Beauty.
