Product Review: Aromantik “Merchants Of Menace” EDT

I was recently contacted by Sally from Aromantik Natural Perfumes and I jumped at the chance to sample the Australian made, 100% natural fragrance range. I am really glad that I did, because I have since discovered my Autumn fragrance for this year, the ‘Merchants of Menace’ Eau De Toilette. This is definitely not a scent that I would have selected on my own, so I’m grateful to have been exposed to it by chance. I am going to steal the description of the scent from the Aromantik site, because it’s far better than anything I could try to come up with. “Contains lashings of 3 aphrodisiac inducing oils – the best quality Dark Indonesian Patchouli I have ever come across, a gorgeous Organic Lavender grown in Provence France, and a luscious French Cocoa Absolute. Add to this a touch of spearmint for a refreshingly unique scent that smells almost good enough to eat!” On me, the fragrance smells like an adult version of musk stick lollies. And it is divine. As the fragrance contains natural oils, it will warm up to your own skin chemistry and has the potential to create a smell that is unique to you. The lifespan of the scent was pretty good, it lasts quite well throughout the working day and I was actually stopped twice on my way home from work one evening to be asked my two different women what perfume I was wearing. For me, that speaks volumes about the product. It is a unisex scent, which means your boyfriend can steal it from you if he likes it enough and I would describe it as quite a spicy, warm scent which would be perfect for autumn/winter. The Aromantik ‘Merchants of Menace’ EDT retails for $60 AUD for 50ml and can be purchased online from the Aromantik site. If you’d like to try before you invest in a full size bottle, you can buy a 4ml sample spray for $12 AUD (pictured above). (note: this product was sent to me for consideration for review)

Product Review: MOR Honey Nectar Hand & Body Lotion

I’ve been a fan of Australian cosmetics company MOR for many years now. I’m not sure how long ago it was, but they’ve released a new generation of scents and packaging that are just as, if not more beautiful than the old range. One of the new fragrances from the range is Honey Nectar, and I received the Hand & Body Lotion in this scent for Christmas. The fragrance is subtle, but as with all of the other MOR body products I’ve used in the past, the smell is long lasting on the skin. The consistency of the product is reasonably thick for a lotion, and feels very moisturising. One of my favourite things about the MOR product range is the packaging, it’s always gorgeous and they are the kind of products I’m happy to have on display in the bedroom or bathroom because they have the ability to enhance the decor. This is the first honey scented body lotion I’ve ever used, but I am loving it and can definitely see myself repurchasing in the future. The MOR Honey Nectar Hand & Body Lotion retails for $19.95 AUD and is available for purchase from MOR Cosmetics online.

Product Review: Bath & Body Works Fresh Market Apple Hand Soap

I am kind of obsessed with the Bath & Body Works Anti-Bacterial Gentle Foaming Hand Soaps. I know that seems like a strange thing to be obsessed over, but there you have it. I ordered 4 different soaps (one for each season) and the soap I’ve been using through summer is the “Fresh Market Apple” scent. The fragrance description is pretty accurate, it is a very fresh smelling soap with a strong smell of apples that comes through. The soap contains a blend of “moisturizing honey, coconut milk and olive fruit extracts to help nourish and soften skin” and despite being a foaming product, it does leave my hands feeling quite soft and moisturised. The Bath & Body Works hand soaps are pretty good value for money, if you don’t mind the fact that you have to use a parcel forwarding service to get them to Australia. The ‘Fresh Market Apple’ Anti-Bacterial Gentle Foaming Hand Soap retails for $5 US (you can currently get 4 for $15) and can be purchased online from the Bath & Body Works website.

Product Review: Bath + Body Works Exotic Coconut Body Lotion

Have you ever used a product for an extended period of time, and then every time you use it in the future it takes you back to a time in your life? I’m pretty sure that is what is going to happen to me with the Bath + Body Works Exotic Coconut Body Lotion. I’ve been using it non-stop as my body moisturiser since first buying it last year. I think it’s safe to say I love it. The smell is perfect for summer; it’s light, sweet and absolutely delicious. The smell lingers for quite a long time, which I love because the scent is so amazing. People have actually commented on my “perfume” on days where I was wearing no fragrance other than this lotion. It does a pretty decent job at moisturising, but please keep in mind that I don’t have very dry skin so I’m not sure how it would work for those who need a deeper moisturising lotion than I. The Bath + Body Works Exotic Coconut Lotion retails for $9.50 US and is only available from Bath + Body Works Online. (Note: I purchased mine using parcel forwarding service, Hop Shop Go)

Product Review: Benefit “Love It Up” Set

In case you were wondering, Valentine’s Day is coming up soon… Yep, that gloriously cheesy and often depressing hallmark holiday that I love so much (not as much as Christmas though). To celebrate, Benefit is releasing “Love It Up”, which is a limited edition collectible set of their Lookin’ To Rock Rita eau de toilette & a complementing silk scented body lotion. The packaging is absolutely amazing, and when I received the package in the mail the scent of the products had permeated all of the packaging making everything smell absolutely delicious. How gorgeous is the box that it comes in?

I think the packaging alone would be impressive as a present, is that weird? (don’t answer that.) The fragrance is not something I would have chosen for myself, it’s very ‘green’ and fruity though and is a lovely scent for summer. It warms up after the initial application like most fragrances, and grows muskier throughout the day and I like the scent most after a couple of hours of wearing it. The scent doesn’t have incredible staying power, it’s more of a weekend sort of fragrance for me, with a couple of sprays lasting for around 5 hours before the scent wears off. Wearing it in combination with the body lotion helps the scent maintain it’s strength for a lot longer, but I would only suggest doing this if you absolutely love the smell as it is very strong and could be overpowering. The Benefit “Love It Up” set is due for release on January 29th 2011, and retails for $59.00 AUD. Check your local Benefit counter for the set, or call (02) 8353 5000 for stockist information.
