Current Skin Care Routine

My face has finally settled down after it’s typical ‘oh god a new season, time to freak out!’ episode, and I’m really happy with my skin care routine at the moment so I thought it would be a good time to share it with you all.

Cetaphil Gentle Cream Cleanser – I slather this over my face and wipe it off it with cotton pads to remove my makeup before hopping in the shower at night and properly cleansing with the Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel.

Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel – I’ve mentioned this quite a few times before, and it’s really the only cleanser that I use. I now buy the giant pump top bottles because they last a longer than the smaller bottles (obviously) and the packaging makes it so much easier to use when I’m in the shower. I only ever cleanse my face at night, so I use this in my shower in the evening.

Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant – I’ve really cut back on the amount that I exfoliate my face and my skin seems to be thanking me for it. This is my holy grail facial exfoliant and I use it once or twice a week in the morning or evening – depending on when I feel that I need it most.

Echolife Lavender Face Mist – This is such a gentle and soothing face spray, I think I’m going to cry real tears when I run out of it. I use this every time I get out of the shower before putting on my serum/moisturiser.

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturiser SPF 15 – This is my favourite warm weather daily face moisturiser and I wear it every day.

Weleda Almond Soothing Facial Oil – I use this at night after I’ve spritzed my face with the Echolife Lavender Mist. I pat a couple of drops of the oil into my skin and let it sit for a couple of minutes before applying my moisturiser.

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Creme – I use this as a day time moisturiser in the cooler months of the year, but when it gets too hot to have anything heavy on my face I stick to using it as a night cream only. I layer this over the Weleda Almond Oil in the evening and I swear to god it is the most soothing and nourishing combination that I’ve ever come across.

Benefit It’s Potent Eye Cream – I really like this eye cream and I use it every morning and night, but I think that when I run out of this little deluxe sample jar I’m going to switch to the Kiehl’s Creamy Avocado eye cream instead.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Blemish Stick – Why do all spot treatments have to smell so flipping bad? I like this product, it does the job pretty well. I don’t break out that often so to be honest I’m not really that phased on what spot treatment I use.

May Favourites

Bioderma Crealine – This was the product that I was most excited to try from last month’s Lust Have It box, and I wasn’t disappointed. This is probably the most gentle yet effective makeup remover that I’ve tried, and I can definitely see myself repurchasing it in the future once this little sample sized bottle runs out.

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream – This is my favourite facial moisturiser to use in the cooler months of the year because it’s rich and more moisturising on my skin but doesn’t feel too heavy or thick.

Skindanavia No More Shine Spray – I use this spray every day to set my makeup. It doesn’t do anything to help stop shine, but it does help to keep my makeup on throughout the day, so I’m happy to continue using it.

Face of Australia Nail Polish in Foxy Roxy – This is one of the best ‘greige’ colours I’ve come across for fair skin and I got a LOT of wear out of it in May. It’s rare to find a polish in this colour range that doesn’t make me look like a corpse, but as this shade leans more towards a soft mushroom undertone rather than a brown it seems to work quite well. Unfortunately I’m not sure if this colour is still available from Face of Australia – but if you see it, be sure to pick one up!

Haus of Gloi Milkmaid Whipped Soap – I probably never would have tried out the Haus of Gloi Whipped Soaps had Anissa from Beautifully Glossy not previously mentioned her love for them. I’m glad that I picked this up though because I really love the texture of the soap, and the ‘milkmaid’ scent is right up my alley. The notes are listed as – “flushed, but demure. fresh milk, clean linens, pale must and pink sweet pea blossom.”. If the whipped soaps are released in the future in a scent that appeals to me I will definitely be picking them up.

Project 50 Pan (part 2)

06 – Passport Tahiti Moana Body Wash
07 – Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturizer (I would repurchase this, but I have other moisturisers to use up first before I buy any more)
08 – Flourish Perfume Oil in Sugar (I will definitely be repurchasing this after P50P)
09 – Kosmea Organic Rose Mist
10 – Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant (One of my holy grail skin care items, if I didn’t have another of these in my cupboard ready to be used I would have repurchased and not included it in this tally)

I am busting through these empties like there is no tomorrow… Though having said that, I feel like I might be hitting a dry spell over the next month or so. We’ll see.

Product Review: Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil-Free Cleanser

When I heard the news that Kiehl’s were releasing a range of oil-free skin care tailored for those like me who suffer from grease-face, I nearly jumped for joy. I am a recent convert to the Kiehl’s brand, but I’ve loved every single product that I’ve tried so far. Enter the Ultra Facial Oil-Free Cleanser. I love almost everything about this product. I love the fact that this cleanser has seemingly helped to reduce the amount of oil being produced by my face during the day. I also love the fact that it’s kept my skin clear and has not caused me to break out (which often happens when I branch out and try a new cleanser). It is also gentle enough to cause no redness whatsoever after rinsing the cleanser from my face (another common cleanser faux-pas). What I don’t love? The way my skin feels when I initially wash the cleanser off of my face. It is a very strange sensation and I’m having a hard time thinking of a way to describe it. It feels almost like it’s been stripped of all of the oil in my skin, but not in a harsh way. Quite strange but not completely unpleasant, if that makes sense? (probably not, sorry). All in all I like this cleanser and would definitely repurchase in the future. The Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil-Free Cleanser retails for $26 AUD and is available for purchase from Kiehl’s Australia Online. (note: I was sent this product for consideration for review).

August Favourites

Ahh, farewell to August. I am already in a Spring state of mind and looking forward to the warmer weather, though I know that feeling will pass as soon as we have our first 40 degree day. My favourite products throughout the month of August were as follows: NP Set Calming Pre-Foundation Primer, OPI Bubble Bath Polish, Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Coral Berry, Lanolips Lip Ointment in Sunshine and Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil-Free Cleanser.
